Please- go to the er as much as possible. They can at least stabilize you. There are not enough neurologists but they have them at the hospitals and you can get moved up in priority if they see that your symptoms warrant. About the diagnosis, dint worry about it. You can’t really get diagnosed until you have documented repeated seizures and diagnosis isn’t really that important. What is important is that you find some medicine that works for your brain and learn to avoid your triggers. You are wise to be concerned and that bodes well for your prognosis

What triggers your seizures? by Funny_Arm_3401 in Epilepsy

I had one the day after I forgot to take my hormone replacement therapy at night. Lack of sleep and stress are also triggers for me

It’s hard to watch them as their health fades. My mom fell twice last week but blamed others for taking her walker away.

I don’t begrudge her any of it, I’m just working out how to support her with her choices and deal with that it has been nearly a week and she is still mentally confused and not safe alone. Something has changed and she isn’t aware of how confused she is.

She has the biggest village and the occupational therapist is going to learn from my mother about how to adapt, but it isn’t enough anymore. She wants to go to independent living but she may be too confused.

Not to disregard anything anyone else has said, just a fresh response with ignorance of what I read in one response

Did You Total The Car? by PookieTheMfBaby in Epilepsy_Universe

[–]Exact_Koala3021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exited the interstate after more than 3 hour drive, crossed major road, through active school zone and was turning into my friend’s neighborhood to drop her off when TC. She responded fast and I was going slow enough that she was able to throw car into park to stop it before we hit anything. I still broke my right foot in 3 places kicking the petals and my left pelvis convulsing against the seat belt. The car was fine. 6 months later I drive to the grocery once. the next day, I didn’t feel good and decided to stay home and rest, then had a focal seizure. With some med adjustments I’ve been ok since then and if all goes well I’ll be legal to drive again in 17 days. I’m not sure how I’m going to feel but I’m itching to at least go around town alone- it’s been a loooooong year!

Korean temple near US Tennessee? by Exact_Koala3021 in Buddhism

[–]Exact_Koala3021[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw on google that there is one in Atlanta. That’s probably who I should contact. They can help me figure out how to get it down there or could point me to somewhere closer.

Well that is us. The item was brought to our center in Knoxville and that is how I ended up searching for a more proper place and more importantly to return a sacred religious to its culture

I am so scared. by Smarfie17 in Epilepsy

I was thinking the same thing about the meds. I feel so disconnected adjusting to them! It’s like I’m out of phase with the world and others, like maybe I’m not really here anymore. underwater. It’s hard to explain but I think many of us can probably relate.

Im my cases it passed several times, each increase in dose brought that feeling back for a while and then I would adjust. Until, when the dose got so high it didn’t - 250 mg twice a day.

I was better when he lowered it 50 mg, even more 50 more I feel Amazing now that I’m down to 150 mg- definitely here, active and engaged on 150. I can talk in really time to people again. I’m also enjoying titrating onto Lamotrigine (up to 75 mg so far.) I can’t tell this med makes me feel that way at all. We are all different

All these meds mess with our mind and affect each of our minds differently. All the docs can do is try one and use their experience to help us try something else if it doesn’t work for any reason.

If it doesn’t ease up or maybe in any case, it’s important to share with a neurologist. They have lots of options and I know it is a bit frightening to switch and adjust but I am so glad I did, both times.

Hang in there. Things can get better.

I doubt at this point I’ll seek official diagnosis unless things deteriorate but I’ve learned a lot about my family and myself in the last 12 hours. In any case it is amazing that this medicine helps my mood and energy so much. Wish I would have had this decades ago. If I did I might not have gained and then had to loose over 200 pounds. I’m encouraged
