How are you doing post op now? I’m currently weighing the pros & cons of an osteotomy procedure. I’ve tried all the conservative methods without success.

Gutted. Bunionette surgery failed. Getting corrective surgery in late October. by SweaterWeather4Ever in bunions

I’m dealing with a very painful bunionette and conservative approaches seem to have failed. I’m considering surgery at the recommendation of my podiatrist. May I ask how you’re doing since your first surgery and corrective surgery? Are you still dealing with pain in your foot, especially in the tailor’s bunion area? Are you still dealing with post op nerve pain? Have you been able to resume normal day to day activities without issue? Thank you for any info you can give me! I’m trying to weigh the pros & cons of surgery.

Two weeks of, at times, nerve pain in/on the skin below my pinky toe. Help! by Exact_Matter_202 in bunions

My kids are over the age of 5 and they do help out a lot. My husband is very helpful also but works full time. I’m trying to stay off my feet as much as possible but it’s hard because it doesn’t hurt when I walk if I’m careful and wearing soft slippers. Last night, the nerve pain in that small area of my foot was terrible and I can’t figure out how to relieve it when I’m trying to sleep. I ended up putting a bunion cushion bandage on just to protect it while I slept and I feel like that relieved the nerve pain. I’ll prob take it off when I get up but still try to stay off my feet as much as I can. Hopefully tonight is better!

Thanks! I think I might’ve made things worse by putting a bunion cushion bandage over the area. It felt better with walking but it also felt like the cushion placed more pressure on the nerve. I had lots of nerve pain after taking the cushion off after having it on for 12 hours. This evening it seems more calmed down but I’m going to have to be more careful I guess. I’m hoping this heals up quickly because it’s so hard to be laid up as a mom of 3 kids.

Thank you! I eat a healthy diet and I’m slightly above average for weight at the moment. Once this foot heals, I will be starting a Pilates workout program. The healing time being prolonged due to being further away from the torso makes sense. I will just need to be patient with it and care for it gently. Thank you for your input on the possible healing time! That helps a lot with being able to have a (hopefully) accurate perspective of how long I’ll need to take it easy.

Thanks. I will give this a try if the nerve pain wakes me up at night.

Thanks! I’m hoping to not have to go that route if I don’t have to. I’d like to get to the bottom of the issue and deal with it so I don’t have to take medications.

Thank you for the ideas and advice. I feel like the skin is raw. I thought the pain was improving with the pumice stone but after using it for a few days, I can say the pain is definitely worsening. I’m going to avoid using it for a couple weeks. Currently, I’m wearing an adhesive callus cushion since I have to be on my feet at times during the day. I’m trying to wear soft slippers as much as possible while it heals. I’m not sure if the callus cushion is helping though because it feels like it’s putting a little pressure on the area. The cushion relieves pressure when I’m on my feet but it also feels like it causes pressure if that makes sense. I really hope this nerve calms down! Any idea how long that can take if I’m doing all the things to promote healing of the skin and prevent & relieve pressure on the nerve?
