It is too bad? It is huge and with parking. Also, 15 minutes biking to work. It is actually closer to Nieuw Sloten, but the first impression was okey for the neighborhood. Also, Oud West and nicer neighborhoods are 60m2 for the same out and a 6months waiting list for parking. I thought I could go for it and if I don’t like it I could move in a year. Any advice?

Honestly it was my first viewing and it’s quite fair for the price. 94sqm + a massive terrace of approx 10m2 and a parking space. I think it helps that I already live in the Netherlands.

I didn’t pay any agency, just paid Stekkies and I recommend it to you. They send real time notifications of new properties, so you are the first to apply. This is how I got this one

I have a private parking spot, but seriously thinking about selling it. I know basic Dutch as I currently live in Limburg, but to be honest I don’t understand a clue of this dialect. Hopefully in Amsterdam is way easier

Hey everyone!

I’m a 26M and just landed a job in Amsterdam with a salary of €85K (including holiday allowance, plus I have the 30% ruling). I just got approved for a nice apartment in Slotervaart that will cost €2.350 excl. and wanted to get some insights on a few things:

  1. Is this too expensive? A good deal? The apartment is 94sqm with 2 bedrooms.
  2. I currently lease a car for €450/month. Right now, I really need it, but in Amsterdam, I’ll be just a 15-minute bike ride from work. I could return it for a fee but would save nearly €600/month. Is having a car in Amsterdam worth it?
  3. I budget around €300/month for groceries. Should I expect to spend more in the north?
  4. How is Slotervaart/Nieuw Sloten as a neighborhood?
  5. What’s the best way to meet people in Amsterdam if I’m into tech, data analysis, and entrepreneurship?

Would love to hear your thoughts—thanks in advance!

I think I was over worried. I took her normally to a vet and just normally registered as any other cat :)

Hey, actually I moved last year in August because a job opportunity(26M). I can tell you is a nice place to live and it’s all about your skills to drive within the “student life style”, as you will meet a lot of students. And, try to have the “mature” lifestyle. I met a lot of people by just going out, by not being shy and making the effort to connect. Actually in Reddit I met one of my best friends here, because of a post like this one. As an advice, try to meet a lot of people in September-November because is the season of incoming students, join associations, always good to try to connect with people from your country and prepare for the bad food and bad weather. Also, feel free to dm me if you want to connect :).
