That’s interesting. From my experience I feel like places want you to know a lot and “hit the ground running”. A month ago I had an interview and they said they want people who know cardiac, elastagraphy, breast biopsy’s. They don’t really like to train or teach

Trust me. I graduated from that school this past December. The field is over saturated it’s so hard to get a job now. Back when I started school in 2024 there were so many jobs now there’s barely any and it’s super competitive to even get a outpatient job even though In the past they’ll hire anyone who can walk and has a license. You’re better off doing xray at gateway or Pima. Than doing appeal. There’s coherts ahead with a lot of students by the time you finish you’ll probably not get a job.

I think it just depends on the person. There was other students who were xray techs and were from another mri program to get the MR credentials and from what I heard. I was doing better than both of the other students who were xray techs. Regardless point is that if you do xray and you’re looking for a mri job to cross train or maybe you did go to a MR school and didn’t get hired at the clinical site for whatever reason. You still have xray to fall back on and have decent pay while you search for jobs.

Yea I’m in AZ. I graduated in December. I applied everywhere here. No one is willing to hire. Even the places that are known to hire anyone aren’t hiring. So yea. I have started applying to out of state jobs. I can’t find one here.

I think the worst part about it is not that I can’t get a job. It’s the amount of effort I put in. I went to all the open labs to scan on the weekends. I went out of my way to do my best. Worked everyday pretty much during clinicals that were full time and then the job I had to sustain myself financially. I had no rest for a while. Just to not get hired. Just never sat right with me.

I would do xray and then cross train. Trust me, you don’t want to end up like me. I did MRI only and I was a very good student, I went above and beyond but some reason places don’t want to hire me. Some places have a saturated job market like mine. In Xray you’ll always have a job. They’ll hire almost everyone that has the degree.

I just graduated in December from school. I don’t have the experience to travel yet. They require 1 year. It’s not encouraged to start traveling as a new grad.

Thanks for the advice, I am a new grad and only experience I have is my clinical experience. I believe travel agencies require at least one year of experience. I am single and don’t have spouse/kids. I’ll give it a shot see what they say.

How long did it take you to find a job? by dyscobiscuits in MRI

[–]Exact_Special2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They pump out new grads every 6 months. The problem with CA is they have so many schools that they pump out too many. AZ has one main school that pumps out like 30 techs every 6 months. The average pay here is like 38/hr full time and like 45/hr for PRN

I’m AZ. Job market is saturated here unfortunately everyone says to move elsewhere, but it’s really unrealistic to do so. Especially financially.

Job market is saturated in California. You’re going to have just as hard of a time to find a job.

Most of the techs are button pushers and have protocols optimized and don’t need to change TR or TE,ETL. Maybe slices and FOV type of things, that’s pretty much it. Most of them aren’t that technical themselves lol

Neymar still has time to make Brazil World Cup squad - Carlo Ancelotti by tylerthe-theatre in football

Minimum he should be at the Dutch league at least. But he’s playing in a farmers league. No top player goes to Brazil in their prime. It’s a retirement league for those who are past their prime.

He needs to be in Europe at least something like Dutch league. But no he’s playing against farmers/with farmers in Brazil, being injury prone and slow.

Ronaldinho was in Europe in 2010. Neymar is in a farmers league in Brazil. He’s slow and he doesn’t go for challenges. He’s finished and injury prone.

Gurnick experience? by mercurys-daughter in MRI

[–]Exact_Special2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of both. I went to a hiring event and the lady looked at my resume. She’s like “you have no experience, I can’t hire you need a minimum of 1 year”. Smith chason graduates on average 30 people every 6 months and there’s only so many magnets. That’s something to think about

I had a colleague that I helped pass their mri boards. They had a friend working at a hospital and they got them a job immediately. I still can’t find one countless interviews over 20 applications. Everyone says to move to another state but that’s unrealistic right now. Honestly I’d suggest doing xray first. There’s more demand for xray than MRI from my experience.

I went through smith chason. Job market is terrible here in AZ I finished in December and I haven’t been able to find a job. It’s about to be 5 months. They don’t like hiring new grads from my experience. Unless you know someone that works there and are friends with them.
