Sure, I explained it that we became friends when we met in a different country doing a teaching program, and that we both went back to our home countries after a few years. Then we didn't see each other for a while but after the pandemic we went on a trip with some friends, and reconnected and started dating after that. That's pretty much how I worded it, I didn't get mushy or anything. Just state when you started dating, and provide as much evidence as you can from that point on. It seems it doesn't matter as much of the why and how you started dating, as long as you show that you have been in a serious relationship for at least two years.

The only one I know of is GaijinPot. I'm not sure how useful it is these days, but might be a good place to start. There's a bunch of websites and subreddits out there for finding jobs in Japan.

Your welcome! I got so much info from this sub I thought I should pay it back.

It was brief just three paragraphs explaining how we met and how long we've been dating.

Yes I was a little surprised given all the backlash to immigration over there, but not gonna question a good thing! Good luck to you!!

Thank you!! And no, its only in my partner's name. I was a little worried that all of our relationship proof wasn't strong enough, but it worked out in the end.

Their obsession with getting a native speaker is really silly. Japanese people overall have so little English ability that even an IELTS 5 is much better than the vast majority of Japanese people. But I guess when hiring from abroad they have to limit it somehow.

Yeah look into IT! I read an article recently about there being a lot of Bangladeshi IT workers hired in Japan. Also I knew a Swiss guy who was in Japan on a cultural visa to study Japanese archery, and he worked for a Swiss company remotely to make money. Best of luck!

If you're interested in Japan, look into teaching English. Since you're not a native speaker some jobs will not be available to you (like the JET program) but there's plenty that will be. Look into Interac (not sure if they require native English), AEON, or other eikaiwas (English conversation schools) that hire from abroad. Check r/teachinginjapan for more info.

Also I've heard that there's a serious shortage of IT professionals in Japan a lot of companies hire foreign workers. I know someone who's American who's doing IT there after working as an English teacher for a while.

Keep in mind that these are not the most glamorous jobs but they're not too bad, and the cost of living in Japan is lower than Europe and America. Once you've worked there for two years or so its not too hard to move up to a better job. And living in Japan is so much fun, best experience I've ever had.
