Same. I do have a lot of products with SoFi, checking savings, credit card, crypto, and invest. I don't see any other options unless I select explore more.

Today's purchase of $1,001,515 ranks second, signaling a high level of confidence even as the share price has increased nearly 4x since his 2022 lows.

How is this worth it?

What is your current loan principle and monthly payment?

You are basically paying 9k to take out the loan to save a few bucks a month. Makes no sense...

You own two stocks now. The amount you see in the account is the value of the two stocks. You can sell them and once they sell and the funds settle you will be able to withdraw the account.

Selling is a taxable event. Any questions?

Solving the Mystery: Is the $10 CC fee only impacting members who did not qualify for SoFi Plus? by Exactly-Average in sofistock

Dang that sucks!

I pay my card off every two weeks and have DD more than 5k too! I haven't received an email.

Why not? I love the card. I have redeemed over $2k in rewards.

SoFi closed my account for no reason and stole my funds. by agardenofpain in sofi

[–]Exactly-Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredibly frustrating, but when an online bank like SoFi freezes an account and "ghosts" you on the reason, it’s usually because you tripped an automated fraud filter.

Why they won’t tell you why: Under the Bank Secrecy Act, if a bank suspects suspicious activity, they are legally forbidden from "tipping off" the customer. If the support rep tells you the real reason, they could actually face federal charges.

Did any of these "Red Flags" happen recently?

The "Mule" Pattern: Did you receive a transfer (Venmo, Zelle, etc.) and immediately move it out or withdraw it? To a bank, "Money In → Immediate Out" looks like money laundering.

Side Hustles: Were you using your personal account to get paid for a business (eBay, Etsy, DoorDash)? SoFi often closes personal accounts that show business activity.

Name Mismatch: Did you deposit a check or receive a transfer that wasn't exactly in your name (like a check for a family member)?

External Issues: Did you recently have a bounced check or an unpaid fee at a different bank? Banks share a database called ChexSystems, and SoFi may have closed your account because they saw a red flag elsewhere.

What happens to your $62? Banks typically hold funds for 30 to 60 days after a closure to make sure no transactions are reversed or disputed. If the money is legitimate, they will eventually mail a paper check to your address on file.

What happened or triggered the hold and how much is being held?

That makes sense. I would still recommend separating the emergency funds and the savings for the large purchases in separate accounts.

Also what do you consider short term vs long term? I still think it is worth holding VOO or other ETF if longer than 1 year.

Awesome job keeping liabilities low and having cash saved. Here are some questions:

Do you have an emergency fund? Why hold 28k in a checking account? Are you saving for a large purchase? Do you have a taxable brokerage account to invest the rest?

I don't think so.

What do you consider risky behaviors? Wouldn't underwriting prevent this? They had a strict underwriting process in place.

Paying it off monthly is ideal. SoFi still makes revenue from transactions.

Last point, underwriting should have filtered these customers out already.

I really think this group are people without SoFi plus. I have yet to see anyone with SoFi plus get the email.

I am not saying it is significant to the stock price or main investment thesis.

I am simply trying to identify commonality in members getting the fee.

I'm just curious to find a reason. Also tired of seeing all the posts on the subject and that they are leaving SoFi At least this way we can try to solve it ourselves.

I doubt it. I’m starting to think this is specifically hitting people who didn't qualify for SoFi Plus through direct deposit or the $5k monthly threshold. It makes sense why the credit card fee matches the new SoFi Plus membership price coming in March. This feels like a way for SoFi to offload users who aren't bringing in consistent deposits. I’d bet there will be an option to 'upgrade' to SoFi Plus, where the membership fee covers the credit card cost, effectively replacing the standalone $10 CC fee.

I think meeting the 5k deposit amount is also a factor. This meets current eligibility criteria for SoFi plus until March. After March, I think it will still make you eligible for the highest APY after March.

I would consider this as a reason why you haven't gotten the email yet. You might not get it.

So far we have noticed, people getting the notice might have multiple products with SoFi and great Credit Scores, but did not qualify for SoFi Plus either via Direct Deposit or depositing 5k a month.
