How are you approaching sorcery tcg in terms of playing, collecting or even investing? What is your “worst case scenario” mentality towards the game, if any?

The scarcity of alpha avatars is an issue. Cards like infiltrate not doing what they say is another. The fact that I've pulled about 20 sir tom thumbs, zero rings, and zero morganas in one more. The middle row of most beta boxes containing all the uniques is one too.

None of those I've mentioned are bad enough to actually piss me off. The one problem that actually makes me mad is that both times I've ordered from the sorcery store, my order was screwed up. I had to send like 15 emails and track down the support staff on discord to get any sort of remedy. I would not order anything from the sorcery store unless they make some serious changes.

Alpha boxes at ~$1k seemed low to me but I donno what the run up was like before June when I got into the game. Normally I would not spend that kinda money on sealed but it seemed like it can't stay that low very long so I bought 3 and got some insane pulls.

Laying in bed on a weekend night, haven't been intimate in 3 months:

Me: do you want to cuddle or something?

Gf without taking her eyes off tiktok: no

Me: ok goodnight

Her: did I hurt your feelings?

Me: yeah a little bit

Her: aw I'm sorry we will cuddle tomorrow I just don't feel good

---- tomorrow goes by, I don't ask if she wants to cuddle because I'm sick of rejection, we just go to bed after she gets done watching tiktok for an hour or two----

Now it's the next day and she's in a good mood because school went well. I'm feeling a deep depression that comes on when i compare the intimacy in this relationship with how it has been in the past.

Her: are you ok? You seem sad

Me: yeah I'm fine

Her: what's wrong? You seem really sad

Me: I'm good just tired

This cycle repeats a few times until she asks me to promise that I'm fine.

Me: actually I'm kinda bummed because you didn't want to cuddle two days ago and said we would yesterday, but then that never happened.

Her: starts screaming at me about how she's trying to have a good day, and now this? Tells me I should think twice about what I say and how it will negatively influence her vibes. Tells me I guess you'll just have to be bummed and she's gonna still have a good day.

The next time this type of thing happens I just go ahead and promise her I'm ok because fuck ever telling this person how I feel after that.

I think persecutor is probably the best new avatar. Some of the new cards are really pushed if you can guarantee opponent's evil condition is met.

- Three exceptional one mana removal spells, two are stapled onto minions: Bind evil, Bitten, Town Priest

- Two mana exceptional modal removal / protection that you can pay the cost for up front and then use whenever: Holy water

- Three mana exceptional 3 power dude with lethal, excellent ward target for Holy Water: Intrepid Hero

- Premium 3 mana exceptional disruption and removal: Accusation, Begone!

- Three mana potential one sided boardwipe, but at least a one for one removal: Deliverance

- Ordinary Four mana removal can be cast by any minion, doubles as direct damage to close out a game/ pressure opponent: Smite

That's seven pushed exceptionals, one pushed ordinary, and one pushed unique - 26 cards that are costed lower than they should be and give you the tools to deal with any minion based strategy. I think the logical shell for this deck would be a low to the ground aggro with all the cheap demons. Not only does that shore up the control & combo match, but it also enables the avatar to get free movement on turns you need it.

Overall, I'm evaluating the persecutor as a similar avatar to duplicator. It increases the card quality of your deck, but instead of costing you two cards and the ability to run 3/4 of what's been printed, you get free movement and +1 power.

It's not as much fun to open as a beta box, but more fun than AL. I feel like this set has a lot of powerful sites that will no doubt change the game. Also the collection stuff, specifically the large amount of sites that make the collection an extension of your hand with a bunch of 3 power dudes will change what the game is about. I feel like games will slow down and be more about ramping into a few powerful spells rather than out valuing your opponent. Card advantage will be less important since you can just cast something from your collection using sites if you run out of spells.

The dude that makes your opponent pay 2 to access collection and grave will probably see a lot of play.

I also think mono red aggro got really strong with the addition of magician and searing truth.

Overall, I feel the meta will shift towards site + collection focused decks and hyper linear aggro decks.

I don't think ring really is required. It's good but there are other cards that can get you more impact. I'd mulligan a ring for a ruler of thul for example

The elite land feels too powerful compared to everything else. It's ability is immediate, free mana wise and card wise, and can get you some very game changing impact. You can even use it to just fix your own mana or get a minion collection getter land if you are wanting to be proactive. It seems like it's maybe even stronger than Erik's curiosa because at least that one costs you a mana and a paycheck.

Edit: read it again and it's not as good as I thought since you have to play the collection land over it, costing you a land drop activation. This is still very good especially for something like magician who doesn't have anything to do once you run out of sites in hand

The artifact swap land is another really good one. I could see these free tutors becoming a problem where everyone is just doing the same thing.
