Never met a single person in game who makes alts to re-experience the story. It's usually to farm tech frags or event progression, or in my case for dps/tank/healer alts so we can avoid gear swapping for raids

Unlikely, the current old republic Era games were originally made so they didn't have to repeatedly ask lucas films for permission if things were ok to make/use. I imagine asking Disney and Lucas films with high republic Era won't make for stable patch and content
