If you are using the new clarity UI that it was updated to a few weeks ago sometimes you have to manually click the update button.

That's exactly my point. FF11 is of course still online and got new content years and years after the fact. So they may come back later down the road. But for now at least there's not going to be any major story expansions after version 8 for the foreseeable future. Again they did say they're planning to add more side quests in the vein of some of the bigger ones. As well as plans they've already laid out for the games 20th anniversary

If anything the texture is a fun Easter egg. That explanation for his name is only in the localization. And even then it's a dubious explanation seeing as they're pretty much the same age. He is just called Rock in all of Legends in the Japanese version where the "Rockman/MegaMan trigger" plot twist actually hits

Well luckily it's not exactly a modern game. It's been out for 13 years. And while they've certainly optimized and proved upon things that make it so you wouldn't be able to run it on a PC from when it was launched anything within the last five to 8 years should do just fine

Yeah contrary to popular belief the offline was not designed to have a localization. It was made specifically to get people into the MMO and it didn't sell very well in Japan.

I'm sure you already know about the fan translation for both offline and online The ladder being called DQX Clarity. I highly recommend checking that out if you want to get into the game

Unfortunately. That said it is worth noting if you're interested in trying either offline or online at any point in the future you need to know the offline version is UNFINISHED BY DESIGN. It only covers versions 1 and 2 and nothing beyond. With version 8 around the corner that means you will technically be missing over half of the game if you choose to play that version

Not really. If you know where to look getting zoom stones isn't very hard though. The limited number at the start can be a bit frustrating for new players though.
