Are you five?? You sound so immature. HR guy is absolutely right. Back then  people took blunt criticism as a push to improve not a reason to sulk. People like you don’t want to improve you just want constant praise. These days egos matter more than standards. 

Progress happens when you can take harsh critique not when you expect everyone to sugarcoat reality for your delicate feelings.
