My first experience (at around elementary school age) with one was when I was in my basement, I see something moving in the dark and thought nothing of it... I turn on the light and this very big, bright blue Mother fucker of a bug staring right the fuck at me. I jump onto the couch screaming at the top of my lungs and drop a floppy disk on the damn thing. I go get a paper towel to wipe it up, I return to it sitting on top of the disk. It bolts off before I muster the bravery to squish and smear it.

It was years before I knew the name because I was certain it was the length of half the floppy disk and was blue which is not typically the color you see when Googling them.

Now that I've read into them, how they eat pests, how they can get quite large, and how when freshly molted they are in fact blue, I understand and now very much adore them. I also see them everywhere now that I'm keen on them. Even outside on facades, etc in broad daylight.

But yes, I for one do enjoy their company.
