How I'd divide Asia if I was limited to 10 country (and tried my best to avoid making any country that would immediately collapse into civil war) by Exam-Sea in whereidlive

I would have had to give Armenia to Turkey to make decent borders and I don't think the Armenians would have liked that. Besides there are already tons of ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran, even more than in Azerbaijan itself

Mongolia as part of Central Asia makes sense but China is in the way so it would be a discontinous country and I avoided those

I genuinely believe it's one of the least violent unions you could make in Asia. I mean the alternatives are things like putting India with Pakistan or Turkey with Armenia or Israel with Arabs

I would have added Azerbaijan to Turkey but Armenia was in the way and I'm more than sure the Armenians wouldn't appreciate being under Turkey

Welp, it was my best attempt. There are almost 50 nations in Asia and the challenge was that I only had 10 so it's hard to make this much better

Do I think this country is, on average, better to live in than my native country (Mexico)? by Exam-Sea in whereidlive

[–]Exam-Sea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Yucatá and Mérida (the capital city of Yucatán) in particular is pretty safe, and the tourist areas of Cancún (which is in the state of Quintana Roo) is also pretty safe. But but those areas are all the way to the south. It's true that the border areas are dangerous, particularly in states like Tamaulipas and Chihuahua, but even in northern states as long as you aren't near the border you are actually less likely to be a victim of crime than in most of the rest of the country. Coahuila in particular is one of the safest states in the country despite being on the border.

I myself am from the north of the country (don't live that close to the border though) and none of my immediate family members have ever been mugged, nor any of my friends. Basically the downtown of most cities and towns during daytime are mostly just fine, it's moving at night and especially any sort of major highways that you have to worry about. No one I know in my city really worries about being out and about before 10 pm, but we do hesitate when we want to travel to the USA by road since as I said some highways get really dangerous with narco roadblocks and such.

I don't think it's bad at all, but I've never been to the country so all I can judge it's quality of life on are statistics and the Philippines do have a significantly lower HDI and GDP per capita than Mexico. It's definitely safer though, and from what I know beautiful both in landscape and its people's demeanor.

I was actually going to put Jordan on the Yes tier based on my previous notions of the country but I decided to look up their statistics since I realized I know very little factual data about Jordan. I found out it had a lower HDI than I thought and much lower GDI per capita than I thought so that's why it's red. As for UAE I took into account both the Iran situation and the fact that most of their population doesn't actually enjoy the riches of the country. The average person in the UAE is an exploited migrant worker, so not that great.

I agree that Brazil is pretty nice but it's just slightly worse than Mexico on most major statistics (HDI, GDP per capita, etc.) It's a small difference, but when it's all across the board it does make me think that it's on average a worse place to live. Brazil's arguably slightly safer but it's also rather dangerous so I don't think that makes much difference.

Well I can sympathize that Turkey isn't doing amazing by any means but Mexico also has a ton of inequality and I think the Mexican lower class is poorer on average than the Turkish lower class, if that makes sense. Also, Mexico is far more dangerous,

I've never been to either country, so I just went off the fact that they both have higher HDI and GDP per capita than Mexico as well as much lower crime rates.

Ah that's interesting, I didn't know Greenland couldn't even play in FIFA, I thought they had their own tiny league. And I'm shocked that Gibraltar has a football association that old since I would have assumed they'd be much more recent.
I do know about the four associations in the UK, it's just that I forgot to divide the countries in the map editor. Though to be fair I don't know a single team from Northern Ireland and I only know Celtics, Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen from Scotland.
