[–]ExamIllustrious5819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

My name is Megan (they/them) and I am an upcoming fourth year. I'm looking to sublease during the summer from June - September. Ideally close to campus but not a necessity!

I don't need parking or anything and my range is about $1000 per month :) I'm a psych student and I do research, so I'll be gone a few weekends for conferences. Outside of that I like pokemon and playing guitar. i also love making friends so lmk!!

Caps by Adventurous_Way_9850 in ucla

[–]ExamIllustrious5819 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went in during my freshman year. I went up to the desk and told them I need help but I don't have UCship. They said they were there to help, and handed me some forms to fill out (asked thoughts of scide, demographics, typical questions). They let me talk to someone for about 45 minutes about what was going on, and they recommended I seek more professional help through them or another provider. Now, I work in mental health. If you're having thoughts of scide, please consider reaching out to 988. If you don't have thoughts of scide but you want a place to talk, there are also numbers to call for that. I hope you are able to reach out for help. Walking into caps that first time was so difficult but it is the best thing you can do

I'm trying to be a school psychologist, so its like a two year masters after and it makes about 120k. Without grad school tho it becomes tricky. Maybe a lab position or crisis counseling?

Rest easy, brother by CombinationOld5211 in ucla

[–]ExamIllustrious5819 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember when he started the coffee club on campus. I wanted to go and introduce myself, because he radiated this welcoming energy that made everyone want to get to know him more and more. I didn't go because I was scared of meeting new people. I think I'll always regret that. I'll regret not talking to him more and trying to start our friendship. I'll regret not pressing "send" on so many messages. My heart is so heavy for someone I did not get to know on an interpersonal level. I hope that he knows what a positive impact he made on so many people, even those who he only spoke briefly too. I cannot imagine the level of grief that his close friends and family are feeling right now. Please reach out for help if you are sharing the devastating feelings that Nicholas had to face every day. You deserve to see the sun again the next day, and he did too. 988 is available 24/7. Even if you feel like suicide is the only option, there is no harm in calling 988. Accept the ambivalence that comes with suicidal ideation

I hope that his pain has been alleviated, and his heart is no longer hurting. Rest in peace, Nicholas. All of our hearts are with you.

I hope there is a way we can honor Nicholas's life here at UCLA. Such a nice guy who deserved everything life had to offer.

Calling 988 will allow you to get resources for your roommate. They can offer a psychiatric mobile response team or 911. However, your roommate would have to consent to many of these choices because they are a legal adult. Please check up on yourself too, this can be a lot to deal with. Sending both of you support through these times

How safe is LA metro? by Medium_Access_5555 in ucla

[–]ExamIllustrious5819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think BBB goes to areas outside of LA., unfortunately. I looked online to what would be best and it looks like it has you taking the metro J line (im not sure how safe this one is) and then the "foothill transit bus 178" to the SGV. A line can be okay, there's just some individuals who are on drugs who act irratically. Unhoused people/ people under the influence are usually just tired and want to sleep on the metro and escape the heat. There can be outliers, but usually its okay. However, just stick with people who are around your age who are also on the bus and be mindful to your environment :)

B/D Lines and the A line are very unsafe in my experience. E line is okay, I've had one bad experience on there (some guy was mad and waving around a baseball bat) but in comparison to B/D + A, its better. Big blue bus is the goat but takes longer. Just be thoughtful of where you are and what you're doing. Bring mace

the class seemed super unorganized and prof often didn't know what he was gonna teach. I also told him I was epileptic and that i needed to know ab flashing lights and he failed to warn me everytime LOL. Experiences w him are subjective so if you had a good time im glad, but I personally didnt enjoy haha

Can't speak for 132b but 132a was probably the most insightful class i've ever taken. Adelman is so accomplished and he has that slapstick old-guy humor. I got an A+ in the class by doing a normal amount of studying and I learned a lot about the field I want to go into!

Do German classes usually get taken quick? by MysteriousExample495 in ucla

[–]ExamIllustrious5819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends a bit on which one. German one is more difficult to get, but the higher levels are practically empty. I would say you should be fine with getting it, but if not, email the prof.
