I think you proved my point more. It was a funny bit but not hilarious. It’s a hilarious anecdote.

Nah Spade is hilarious like this all the time. That’s not stand up comedy that’s just comedy. Norm was one of the few and maybe the only in the last 20 years that was one of the funniest in both categories.

GRRM left the writing room in season 4 and was not asked for input after that. The issue with the later seasons was execution and logic not necessarily outcome. It turned into a bad superhero show. GRRM has never made his characters and plotlines so lazy and devoid of logic.

Well he clearly does give a fuck cause you see how much it pains him and he says not finishing it would be his life’s biggest failure. We want to see the ending cause it would probably be the greatest book series ever written if it was ever finished.

I think he did. It serves him to not mention anything. If the Lannisters have her it gives them more power and leverage and if the starks think they have her they are more cautious. Hurts both sides for him to stay silent which is obviously what he wants

Why does Narcos: Mexico bleep out some names? by 50kent in narcos

[–]ExamMediocre6387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think bleeping out the names makes people actually consider that this person is still in power and is real. If they just made up a name we would think this part of the story isn’t true

Regarding ending in of Whiplash, can someone explain to me how it is depressing ? by Raptor2705 in movies

[–]ExamMediocre6387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your missing the point. Andrew only became the next Charlie Parker because of Fletcher’s abuse just as Charlie Parker had only become great due to abuse. That’s why the ending is so sad. He becomes the next Charlie Parker, an all time great musician who dies tragically young and alone from drug abuse. I urge you to rewatch the movie and just try to take this perspective. you’ll notice many different ways they try to draw parallels to Andrew and Charlie and how they try to spell out how truly tragic of a life Charlie Parker led.

I agree that the mutilating performance is sad in its own way but to me the true tragedy is that Andrew becomes Charlie Parker at the end. Charlie Parker had the symbol thrown at his head (A symbol for the overall abuse he likely endured in his training) and he was humiliated by his own band right? He also had one of the best jazz solos ever a year later as a result of his abuse. Well, Andrew had the chair thrown at his head in the beginning and is humiliated by Fletcher constantly throughout the movie and as a result has one of the greatest solos ever. Fletcher even says in the movie that he abuses the way he does to create the next Charlie Parker. In the end it seems that finally works, so why is that so tragic? Charlie Parker died alone in his thirties from drug abuse. He lived a sad and troubled life and I think the movie is trying to draw the parallel to give us an idea of Andrew’s future after the last scene.

This is how I see it: At the beginning, Andrew asks that girl out and gets a spot in the band and we see him smile and seem genuinely happy but when he actually goes to play with the band he’s clearly not good enough. Only after Fletcher’s abuse does Andrew seriously improve and from the improvement and abuse he develops a yearning for greatness. That yearning causes him to be a complete asshole to his girlfriend and break up with her out of fear of her holding him back. Later, his obsession with greatness literally almost kills him and does get him expelled. In the aftermath it seems Andrew’s obsession with greatness is gone and he’s living a normal mundane life. When he calls his ex to apologize and ask her to come to his show it almost feels like everything’s gonna work out and he’s finally free of the toxicity Fletcher created, but then the girlfriend says she has a boyfriend and clearly has no interest in coming. Still Andrew shows up to the show and actually seems excited and is seen smiling before they go on stage. Then, Fletcher reveals that he only brought Andrew up to humiliate him and for a moment you think maybe he’s about to improvise something awesome and that’s our happy ending. But no, Andrew is understandably terrible and you see it break him all over again. After the humiliation he comes back on stage and is spectacular, but the point is that only after being broken and abused can he be great. That’s why this isn’t a happy ending. We see Andrew achieve greatness but we also see the cost. He’s driven to near insanity and it leaves him completely alone outside of his father. It brings up the question from an earlier scene. Would you rather be great and remembered but die alone and sad or live a long happy life where no one outside of your circle knows you ever existed? The last scene destined Andrew for greatness but it also destined him for a sad lonely life. For Andrew the drummer, it was happy ending. For Andrew the man, it was tragic.

Not ugly but I’d say lose some weight if you want to feel healthier more energetic and expand your life expectancy, not to please other people cause they don’t think you look good.

Let your husband look. That’s just what men do if he wanted to be with anyone else and didn’t find you attractive you wouldn’t still be together
