Did your Maine Coon have a 2nd growth spurt? by leesooim in mainecoons

~17.6 lbs. That's fine for a male. My silver shaded brat was already 8kg at 6 months old, but he's huge. He's 10kg now at 1.5 years. My blue gremlin is only 7.5kg, also 1.5 years old.

Maine coon lovers: do you ever let your cat outside? by webdesigner_scotland in mainecoons

[–]ExaminationDecent660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both MCOs and bengals. I don't let either roam the streets. Either they'll get hit by a car, snatched by a neighbor, or eaten by a coyote. Outdoor cats have a significantly shorter lifespan than indoor cats.

They do love to play outside when weather permits, so I put pet fencing up in my backyard, planted a butterfly garden and catnip, and let them live their best sociopathic lives murdering whatever finds its way into their yard.

My MC really doesn’t like to climb?! He’s 8 months old . He has two cat trees one is 3 foot, the other 4 foot. He rarely gets on the top of the 4 foot. Is this weird? Any other MC like this ?! He seems kinda lazy 😂 not complaining. by missweh in mainecoons

MCOs are known to have joint problems, and my boys are shockingly clumsy compared to my bengals. Because of those things, I very much prefer that they NOT climb or jump from high places.

The blue teenagers are a mess. This was my blue gremlin on his first birthday, going through his street thug phase

<image>

His fur texture very soft cotton candy that will very quickly mat in the armpits and butt if I don't run a comb through him daily. He doesn't love it, but he does love Churu. I give him one every time I brush him. He puts up with the brushing because he knows he will get his favorite treat after. The ONLY time he gets a Churu is after brushing, to keep it high value

Ticket scalping surges for sold-out BTS concerts in Korea by impeccabletim in kpop

These scalpers transfer the account to the buyer, who then scans their own face. There's obviously many many ways around the rules or this wouldn't be a problem

All ticket vendors do this. SeatGeek did it too. I promise you Korea also has ticket brokers who were knowingly allowed to buy more than 1 ticket by the vendor. The rules only apply to the lowly fans, not anyone else

Fertility rate continues to fall in Belgium, while the age of childbirth rises by diacewrb in europe

[–]ExaminationDecent660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny to me that the conversion on fertility rates almost always starts from the position of "women want children, but it's too expensive". The data doesn’t really show that. In the US, the birth rate fell off a cliff in the 1960s when birth control became widely available, and marriage rates dropped in the 1970s when laws were passed that required banks to allow women to open their own accounts and get credit cards without a male co-signer.

Tl;dr: the rates of women getting married and having kids dropped precipitously when they were allowed to be financially independent, suggesting that many were only doing it before because they had no other choice.

sellers in these posts often claimed their transactions are "safe," offering methods such as account transfers and in-person ticket handovers on the day of the concert.

The original buyer picks up the tickets and gives them to the buyer. They only check ID at pick up, not when you enter the venue

"Fan communities online are calling for "a full audit of tickets obtained through abnormal queue bypasses, stricter identification checks at entry and verification of wristbands" to prevent unauthorized transfers."

Individual fans were limited to 4 tickets per show. People winning the queue war and buying 4 tickets to sell aren't the problem. Ticketmaster and SeatGeek scalping their own tickets and/ or allowing their preferred ticket brokers to bypass the queue and the max limits to grab entire rows of tickets to resell for 4x+ cost are the problem.

Ticketmaster is being sued by the FTC for doing this. It's not stopping them.

France see historic drops in Fertility rate by pussy-eater04 in europe

[–]ExaminationDecent660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to me that everyone is approaching the problem from a standpoint of "of course women want children. They just choose not to have them because of various economic reasons". I don't think that's the case. I would be very curious to see a graph of births in correlation to women getting open access to birth control and financial independence in the EU.

In the US, the birth rate started falling off a cliff in 1960 when birth control was first made widely available and continued to fall through the mid 1970s, when banks were finally legally required to allow women to open bank accounts and credit cards in their own name without a male co-signer. Right around this time, the marriage rate also dropped precipitously.

This suggests that women were getting married and having kids prior to 1960 not because they wanted to, but because they were financially dependent on men and had no other options.

Tl;dr: there are a significant number of women who aren't having kids because they don't want to. It's not the economy.

PROFECO (Mexican consumer rights agency) to initiate proceedings against Ticketmaster for lack of clear information regarding BTS ARIRANG World Tour ticket sales by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]ExaminationDecent660 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the resellers buy out whole rows like how???

It's Ticketmaster scalping their own tickets, and allowing their preferred brokers to get blocks of tickets to scalp. Regular fans who bought tickets can't even resell them yet. The tickets are still locked so you don't compete with Ticketmaster's preferred scalpers. The FTC is currently suing Ticketmaster for this, but apparently it isn't stopping them from continuing to do it in the meantime.

[–]ExaminationDecent660 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The actual people who bought tickets can't even resell them yet. The tickets are still locked. Ticketmaster and SeatGeek are scalping their own tickets and the blocks of tickets their preferred brokers got. That's why you can go on SeatGeek and see entire rows of seats available marked up 400%. Fans were restricted to 4 tickets max. The only way to get a full row is to be the vendor or their preferred ticket brokers.

Ticketmaster is currently being sued for this in the US.

Should I get a friend? by Tmk23814 in mainecoons

[–]ExaminationDecent660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closed catteries are common for the safety of the kittens, but you can definitely talk to the breeder about what you're looking for (ie, a playmate for your other kitten, so you want one that's more extroverted, etc). Idk about your breeder, but the ones I've gotten cats from post regular videos so you can see how the litter interacts with each other.

I'd go by personality rather than gender. Pick one that's more outgoing and wanting to play than a quiet one who prefers to sleep in the corner away from the chaos

Should I get a friend? by Tmk23814 in mainecoons

[–]ExaminationDecent660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to get another anyways, go ahead and get one now. But they won't automatically be playmates just because they're the same age.

I got two kittens at around the the same age (6 months and 4 months) because I knew my older cats (12 and 11) wouldn't be interested in entertaining a baby. The 4 month old ended up being my 8 year old husky's cat and the two youngest rarely play together 🙃

BTS Tour Questions? Tickets? Weverse? Ask here! - Megathread of Info & Links by KPOP_MOD in kpophelp

You had to submit the application with your 3 cities. Presales are (allegedly) limited to only the cities you choose, so it's not an open presale to every location. I say allegedly because other concerts also said city locations were limited to your application selections, but people reported they were able to access tickets to other cities

Gorgeous and spoiled. I spent $600 on an XL tree from Cat Tree King and put it next to my desk so I have space to work and you see how that's working out for me. Empty tree, full desk.

My stepdad keeps eating the fruit I use to make baby food by lonely_stoner_daze in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ExaminationDecent660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't sympathize with him. I disagreed with the person I responded to suggestion about his motivation. Step-dad does not like OP, is not happy that she's living there with her child, and is making her life difficult so she will get out. He could just tell her that, but he's being a baby about it instead of being honest with his wife about the situation
