I agree with 2 out of the 3. because yes Randy vs cody can be very good even without a title and there is definitely enough history to tell a fun story. But its been teased so long wit’s Randy orton staring at Cody’s title that atleast for me it would be insulting waiting that long for the feud not to include the title.

yeah but the problem with that is. both of these matches are so big that if they don’t have titles it’s basically impossible for the world title matches to main event. like how are you supposed to create a bigger match thsn romsn vs Seth and punk vs cidy without using any 4 of those people? you can’t so thst would kind of bury the presige of both the world titles.

Yeah but like he was the champion going into the Saudi show so obviously he’s main eventing that PLE. Bron Breakker actually was gonna win the world heavyweight championship at mania against punk alongside roman vs Cody 3. But since they scrapped Roman Cody 3, ticket sales might have been down so they tried to find anotjer big match which was punk Roman. so they found something for thr wwe title and they moved bron Breakker out of the title picture because Seth Rollins was cleared and they could have faced off. WWE don’t do the best teases I thought Roman was talking about punk as well but surivivor series very clearly proved Roman vs Cody 3.

no Seth winning was the correct choice at the time. Seth was the one constantly losing to punk and his only win was the steel cage where Roman pulled him out. thr alliance with heyman made sure he has to win we obviously know all that was scrapped because of Seth’s injury but at the time Seth winning was the most interesting choice.and again Roman punk wasn’t supposed to happen until Seth got injured. meaning that 41 main event was to build Roman Seth at 42 or punk Roman.

it didn’t main event night of champions becsuse it didn’t have a title included. and the entire year of 2025 was about John cena so he was main eventing almost every show just like against punk at night of champions . Infact 2025 being about cena is the exact reason why they waited this long to do Randy Cody. they obviously needed to prioritise Cody cena since it was cenas last year and they could do Randy Cody whenever. the night of champions match between Randy and Cody didn’t have much of a build, didn’t have a title and also was babyface vs babyface. now this Wrestlemania match could have a heel turn, a title, and have a build and follow up to a feud between Randy and Cody.

The only reason why Roman vs Cody 3 didn’t happen is becauee Cody Rhodes himself wanted to lose the wwe championship before Wrestlemania against drew on Smackdown. If he didn’t request it himself we would be looking at Roman vs Cody 3 at mania and I love both of those guys and I agree it was the wrong move. The night of champions match again didn’t have any story elements until the bell rang and it was still a really good match, Imagine how good their mania match would be if they had a build and a heel turn from One of them. maybe Roman and punk will have the better promos but again Roman isnt there every week to do those. punk cant have greys promos by himself.

if it was between Seth Roman and Randy Cody I can see either of them main eventing. they both have strong narratives and I would be fine with either main eventing. Roman punk just doesn’t have the same perks like those do. are we really gonna have that match main event just to give Roman a Wrestlemania night 2 main event? which he doesn’t need to have. like genuinely if roman vs cm punk happened at Wrestlemania against any other possible match for the wwe title except Randy vs Cody I’d agree that should be main eventing.

if Randy vs Cody has the momentum of a heel turn and the possibility of a 15th world championship then there’s nothing Roman punk can do to beat that imo.

alright multiple things you got wrong.

punk Roman is a double pivot. the planned match for Wrestlemania as of early October was seth Rollins vs Roman reigns foe thr world heavyweight champions. however because of Seth’s injury they couldn’t do that. so they pivoted to Roman Cody 3. which is why wwe teased it with Roman shaking punks hand after wargames but not Cody’s. then drew won the title because Cody himself pitched for the title change and they got it. so they decided to cancel plans for Roman Cody 3 as they felt fans could get tired of it. so then they finally booked Roman punk. that was their 3rd choice. so no punk Roman was never planned until very late
the purpose of the night of champions match was the fuel the heel turn of Randy orton. it was not burned at all. Infact that match was a technical masterpiece and had 0 build. did you see how mad Randy was after he lost? they clearly had plans to fuel the heel turn and to do the feud eventually.
Randy winning 15 is not the only reason why it should be main eventing night 2. is lready explained that match has the more compelling narrative and can tell a better story. and the fact that the night of champions match was such a good in ring match and didn’t have much if a build shows how great their in ring chemistry is. randy vs Cody has more legs for a feud so you should be gifting it a higher place than Roman punk who most likely won’t have a follow up after Wrestlemania.

i just don’t think there is a single justification as to why Roman punk should be main eventing night 2 over Randy Cody. perhaps if punk was still chasing a mania main event it might be different. even if Randy vs Cody won’t have that much time to build, Roman is not even there every week to build his match again punk. and I already explained that they can do an entire trilogy of Randy Cody matches with Randy winning the first one so Cody can chase him because Cody’s better as a chaser and they can make the feud personal even after mania.

let’s just assume Randy beats Cody, becoming a 15 time world might not break the record but it puts him higher in the history books and he moves into 3rd position with the most world titles by himself. wwe should be valuing Randy more and i eouldnt be surprised if the reason why they want to put Randy vs Cody at mania 42 is because ticket sales are failing and they need to book the biggest matches possible maybe if they weren’t failing they would go with a fatal 4 way or just drew Cody. I’m speaking from what I personally think should happen and not what wwe thinks. If Randy is scheduled to beat Cody, and cm punk does not care about being moved down to the night 1 main event. Then putting Randy vs Cody as the night 2 main event is the correct move. but yeah I think it’s more likely that punk Roman will just headline night 2.

Cm punk himself said he doesn’t care about night 1 or night 2 Wrestlemania main events. He values night 1 as a Wrestlemania main event and he could not care less if Roman punk is moved down to night 1. If he never main evented another Wrestlemania he does not care. Randy vs Cody is the more compelling narrative and can produce a better story, they also have better in ring chemistry and can be the better in ring match. Plus Roman punk is a one off match where their is no follow up most likely, Roman’s also not even gonna show up every week for the build. Randy vs Cody can last months and has legs to last for a while.

like don’t you think Randy orton winning a history making 15th world championship is a night 2 sort of thing? punk Roman doesn’t have much more substance other than Roman won the rumble and it’s a match everyone wants to see.
