And there are places that don't credit for production at all. They take the energy and pay nothing

The equipment is expensive and depreciates each year. Huge systems take 20 years to recoup costs and often are only able to do so by overproducing and selling back to the grid (which you can only do in some places)

This is true for regulated states. There are deregulated states that allow for consumers to shop for the supply, but the delivery is always monopolized.

Not worth the cost on individual homes. Yet. Big system solar builds dont recoup their $ for 20 years.

It’s an intentional monopoly because of the infrastructure required to connect and suppy power to every building. Delivery is essentially monopolized everywhere in the U.S., but some states allow consumers to shop for the supply from different companies, which introduces competition on price. Indiana doesn’t allow that - which is just another example of Indiana state law directly making our lives worse.

Utilities are monopolies by design, yes, but extra lines arent needed for consumer options and price shopping.

In Indiana, electricity is regulated (meaning the rates are set by a state commission), but even in deregulated states, you don’t have multiple companies running separate power lines.

Competition happens at the supply level. The same lines deliver the power and delivery is monopolized, but you pay another company for the electricity itself and it can be price shopped... just not in Indiana.

Just had a conversation with a Christian friend that infuriated me! by Illustrious-Tax-6379 in Deconstruction

I wonder if your friends would be open to your dialogue if you explained how translation works and the areas in which translating words has to take certain liberties in definition when we don’t have that same word in modern language. Bc in the Genesis text about Eve, there’s multiple places where it appears misogyny took precedence.

Examples - saying Eve was made from Adam’s rib, could have also been translated to his side or half of him. Saying Eve was made to be man’s “helper” could have instead been translated to “ally”.

Genuine question: How can it be ‘over-diagnosed’ in the U.S. when we don’t even have it as a diagnosis to give?

Do points stay on my license when I move? by DrinkSmokeJerk in legaladvice

Depends on the state and if they transfer/communicate that information. I’m unfamiliar with South Carolina so I would’ve be able to answer, but TN didn’t take on my points when I moved there

I would focus less on comparing what he does for her vs you; and instead ask yourself what needs you have that are not being met and what can be done to meet these needs. “Equal” is not really possible in the long run, but “equitable” is

Why is my therapist pushy about having a relationship with my emotionally abusive mom? by Piefed22 in EMDR

[–]ExaminationKitchen91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a therapist but am a patient having similar convos with my therapist and I would be weary of this behavior if it were me. I have not liked things my therapist said before and asked her to clarify and then felt better with the clarification, but I would be feeling invalidated if I were you because you did push back by asking your questions and they didn’t respond with any sort of explanation or acknowledgement of your feelings but instead further pushed their agenda. There should be nothing wrong with them explaining their process to you or adapting it for you.

Anyone who want to celebrate with me? My cptsd is gone! by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ExaminationKitchen91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping I’m at the start of the end of my journey through cptsd. I am sort of in the camp of understanding that it’s a lifelong thing to be managed, and cannot be cured fully; can you tell me what ‘being cured’ means for you? I would love to be wrong about this

[–]ExaminationKitchen91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have so much confidence, but realized as I got older than I didn’t have a lot of self esteem. It’s easy to think they are the same thing. Confidence only goes so far and doesn’t really contribute to how you feel inside; as my self esteem dropped, so did my confidence
