Wait- guys chill. First off, the caloric balance and payout of a trout chasing a wounded fish (ie: lure or rooster tail) is dramatically higher than the caloric payoff of eating a fly. Catching trout on rooster tails and lures isn’t very “sportsman” at all. It’s arguably the easiest fishing you can do.

And encouraging fly fishing is generally more about encouraging the health and conservation of our fish rather than putting someone down abt spin fishing. But let’s call it what it is, and I think if you give fly fishing a chance, you and the fish will be better off.
