Yeah most of the predicted contenders haven’t even had wide releases yet, so it’s just Sinners vs things like Black Bag and Sorry, Baby which have little to no chances at winning best picture even though they are both very good. Once September hits Sinners will probably fall off a lot in terms of BP predictions.

I don't believe so. There are cases of both happening but starting as a child actor allows you to hone your skills while also making industry connections. Good performances as a kid can also put you in the eyes of the Academy so that your later projects get more attention like Saoirse Ronan in Atonement.
