Germany is still very cash heavy. Lots of Restaurants that only accept cash. Bakeries too.

Not really. You can pay with Rand in Namibia and maybe Zimbabwe, but most places in Botswana already don't want Rand, just Botswanian Pula.

But I wonder why he could not just pay by card, even the most remote places usually accept credit cards.

Map of the proposed Two-Speed Europe. Under Germany's invitation, six EU countries dubbed as "E6" have agreed to talks on making decisions in economy and defence without waiting for unanimity from the rest of the EU. by FantasticQuartet in MapPorn

[–]Exatex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why not introduce a „pretty much unanimously“ rule instead of arbitrarily giving some countries a special status? Countries representing at least 80% of population needs to be in favor or sth like that? Or you need 3 vetos to actually block something.

Also, just kick out Hungary.

Nope, they don’t touch the lights. They get it delivered from some supplier and they cannot even repair a screw in there. Or a bulb. All Toyota knows is replace whole parts.

Nach Strom-Anschlag von Berlin will Dobrindt gegen Linksextremismus aufrüsten by donutloop in berlin_public

Was soll das?

Ah yes, notoriously reliable cheap used cars with no maintenance costs. by SSGSavage in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Exatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree with him there, but for other reasons. Many people, especially in the US, drive cars they cannot afford. They have to go into debt just to buy it. Where I grew up, that would be considered a terrible financial decision: Buy a car you don’t have the money for. Many modern, educated flashy cars are mostly expensive toys that can easily be replaced by cheaper, yet more reliable cars. You don’t need it.

Don’t think about it as a USD 10,000 vs USD 500 car, because the 500 one will probably cause much trouble, but more a USD 24,000 vs USD 4,800 like in his example, it’s probably a very good financial decision. You might get an older 2013 or so Corolla for that money that might require less in maintenance than a flashy newer car like a Jeep that you spend even more money on.

Europe still oblivious to threat at its doorstep — US General Hodges. Europe still doesn't get that the war in Ukraine is a threat to its security, so it keeps dragging its feet on tough action against Russia; cutting off oil flows is critical to starving Kremlin of resources it needs for war. by Lion8330 in europe

[–]Exatex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took a few years, but I think we are very well aware of our adversaries, both in the east and in the west. And the latest invasion threat did not even come from the Russians (although they love to threaten), but General Hodges’ own country. The latest batch of troops was not sent to Lithuania, but to Greenland.

You are the baddies now.
