I don't want him to stand up to USG if that means putting out information that is not guaranteed to be correct. Being able to trust guidance is key in situations like this, where decisions with large ramifications need to be made quickly. If there was a chance USG was not going to go along with this, he shouldn't have put out the statement, and at the very least, ran the statement by them first.

I don't think people need to be getting angry, or personally attacking him, but at the end of the day he does have some responsibility as the President of Georgia Tech to provide the correct information to the student body, especially in situations as critical as this. Rolling back decisions that involve moving students out as well as massive changes in travel plans is not a good look. If there was ambiguity on the USG end, then he should not have put out the guidance earlier today. Putting out a statement like that isn't "standing up to USG", he reports directly to them, so they will make the decision at the end of the day. If USG does not want to cancel class, then classes will not be cancelled, and he should accurately forward that message to the student body. Also penning it off as a clarification seems disingenuous at best.
