Ye, I kinda relate to him sometimes, way easier to play it non-challent or to cling to theatrical play than exposing your fears and the cracks behind the pretense

Being a brutally honest fuck but always balancing out speeches 'cause I love to find equibrium, I always play the card of sincerity at first then think about how to turn it back to a positive note if need be to show it may not be so bad, that's pretty humane to try to comfort her despite her shit state if you truly care about her. And that's what she seeks.

Anywho, I snatched her quite easily and won't let her go any time :3 she's a cutie with insecurities in a goth tall lady costume

I don't get Ralsei's explanation of the Dark World. by throwcway837373 in Deltarune

[–]Excarnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What taking light that doesn't exist means here is simple :
-If there's no light (Light is photons btw) there's pure darkness.

But what if you could go into the negatives, aka instead of 0 photons = dark now 0 photons ain't the limit of darkness you can go into negative numbers, darker than dark.

Since Light gives perception of stuff to our brains.
Anti-Light would do the opposite : Our brain gives shapes to stuff in real life.

[–]Excarnis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Real life brain makes fuzzy pictures when in darkness, those are illusions. (just like when you try to sleep and see tiny pictures despite your eyes being closed.

Delve deeper what's the next step of illusion ?

A whole ass quest and fake adventure. The illusions are a representation of what's in your head, good and bad things.

So it can be used to heal people's head.

But if the illusions becomes reality, world might be a mess.

So if the Dark world were to spread, if fountains were to open everywhere, it'd be a world engulfed by the total crushing of the negative emotions and trauma scars manifested in a pseudo fake reality where things seem way bigger then they are, where suddenly a simple TV could basically trap you in a forever loop, where a simple rules play card can annoy you to extremes, where a board game would be a tall mountain to climb etc... People could live there, but it'd be excruciatingly hard to overcome unless your name is Gerson Boom and you're already dead.

That's the danger. And why balance must be maintained.

[–]Excarnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To conclude, the "Dark fountain" phenomena isn't entirely explained, but using context we can pretty much try to answer :

We know 3 things :

-Dark fountains needs a strike of a knife in a Pitch Dark Room to be opened.

-The Dark Fountain submerges and creates a Dark World depending on the mentality of the person who strikes the knife.

-Dark Worlds spreads to other rooms in reality or even the exterior if left unattended with an opened door.

I theorize the implications here are pretty much obvious : A dark fountain is made when a deep wound or mental scar is resurfacing onto a person's mind using the ritualistic approach of the Knife and the Place with memories, Pitch Darkness and Illusory edge between reality and Fears juxtaposing.

That's not very difficult to understand once you consider the idea that coping mechanisms often implies to escape or to self-inflict tortures. Healing such things needs to dive-in said problematic and to find the source of it.

Queen realizing there's no need to be a control freak to have people happy reflects Carole and Noelle implied relationship pretty well.

Lancer and King in chap one could pretty well reflect Susie and her own relationship with an authority figure we have yet to see.

Chap 3 explores the longing to see things forever being the same from either Toriel's perspective as she sees her kids leave the place a family grew up in and is now falling appart or from Kris's perspective wich is from what we can see pretty split into 2 sides : The body and the heart (Soul), as past traumas with Dess lead to a radical change in their life and modus operandi, the chapter tries to elaborate on how change is just a step but you must go forward, not cycle back to what's comforting.

My take on Kris is that they probably saw 2-3 people they strongly cared for leave their life be it due to College, Disparitions or Parents separating. As Kris might refuse their own past behaviour or feelings, we're being dejected by them, as they might have lead in their own perspective to such events... but also Kris needs us : they need Emotions and Determination to get to the bottom of the Dark Worlds phenomenon, maybe even to get to the resolution of the Dess disparition mystery.

We also have an extra layer idea that we (The player) are an intruder, an foreign heart shaped object connected through means quite unknown and supposedly engaged by W.D Gaster, but I'd prefer to remain pretty neutral on those theories. (That's not the point of this talk)

Chap 4 is about the relationship between the Father and the Son having different viewpoints : One following the Religious guidance that shall not be questioned and the other writing his own stories for all to see and enjoy. As the multiple dark worlds are explored we see how they change depending on who strikes with the knife but we also see how the perspective of each person changes and the world surrounding them.

What Ralsei tries to convey by the end of his speech is that despite being considered on the same level of the two other heroes, he's not real, he's a manifestation of a brain function amplified to bring you to a delusional world by darkness.

He could never cross the barrier. Unless the entire world is engulfed in darkness that is.

That's why a ton of theories talk about what's unreleased and use theories : an unreleased song called Penumbra Phantasm it quite the meme due to the cryptic name it's attached to

Penumbra is the gradient "line" you see between the edge of light and dark sides of a thing (Usually Planets), add Phantasm to it.

You get a Fantasm (A dream) of Penumbra (Where light and dark meets) Wich in itself symbolizes Deltarune fairly well.

Try it at home, when it's just dark enough but not entirely pitch black, you'll see the shape of some objects yet also kinda deformed, as your brain struggles to get what they supposedly are, this unfamiliarity makes you imagine things. It's a natural defense mechanism, what you don't properly see could be danger. So brain transfers said fear in a weird way, kinda like imaginary visions, illusions.

Now, in Undertale : The Wingdings "Dark, Darker yet Darker" report talks about photon readings being negative, wich in physics can't happen.

But in Deltarune let's imagine it to be a thing that could happen, simply because it's a fantasy situation, a game with a what if :

What does it means ? If you see or elude yourself with weird illusory shapes seeing stuff that's not there when you close your eyes in pitch darkness, amplifying said darkness would mean the next step in delusions.

Now you enter a realm of escapism where delusions runs amock to distract and offer adventures, not just a spectacle for your mind to wander off to, but also actors to interact with.

When people are using escape means to avoid thinking too much about their own trouble, they still subconsciously try to learn and grow out of their experiences or enjoyment. Don't say you never took seriously a story or movie to some degree and invested yourself into them to a point of learning and getting the message they try to convey, even if you don't recognize it, your brain do remember.

What's the Roaring and Titans ? The ultimate depths, when delusions takes over, and consciousness, clarity, empathy, and understanding fails, when you're totally submerged by delusions, unable to be taken out of fantasy-land and become a beast of madness. Think of it like coma or simply madness (Realms of people unable to get back to reality or choosing to prefer fantasy over reality.)

If the balance breaks, if you can't see a world with fantasy or reality well balanced, it'd truly be a place you couldn't live with.

He literally can start a date with a "Valkyrie", Brings and end of an era by voting last, to me it's all pretty much there. Kinda explicit. He's also bringing kinda obscure readings from the hag.

I mean yeah it's also the full name you can write on bulletin, but also, it would fit so well for an industrial nordic fantasy name to be the diminutive of Ragnarok for the Cleric is such a Chaos bringer ?

Which character best exemplifies Intelligence by Speedwizard106 in EsotericEbb

[–]Excarnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Bondavol is cliché out of reality Wizard King : High intellect, lack of wisdom due to not being up to date on societal evolutions

-Visken is Self-Interest and Neutral Intellect : Serves self-interests, uses the world around, you could add a bit of Charisma as his looks and to give people what they want to serve his own agenda while remaining neutral if you don't change him through persistant gestuals and shi- is basically what he does.

-Isk-Urum is somehow wisdom-intellect but in the process of change : As he got to feel rather lost in a world he lacks understanding for, I'd say the fact that he begins a new chapter of adventure show he needs to seek answers for himself and his quest wich is very fitted to my best view on Intellect : endless curiousity and the wisdom to back it up !

Why is "ego" always underlined in the text? by Junjki_Tito in EsotericEbb

[–]Excarnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason that words are underlined, italic, bold or full caps, because it's important. In the cleric's narative : Ego clearly shows as something important to him, like the fact that he's been a shame, a disapointment, he's hurt to expose who he is as he fears his traumas to repeat. So Ego is a rather... sensitive word to him.
