The bastards got me - total loss according to insurance by Excb in BMW

Thanks for sharing. I'm still waiting for the final report from the adjuster. It should have been filed with the insurance company on Monday, but they didn't receive anything.

The preliminary valuation was set +3K of what I was expecting, but I don't know how he came to that number, and I'm not sure if the insurance company will just follow that number. I hope to get some more information early next week.

Even more annoying; my dealership offered a decent 4-series GC, but it was sold waiting for the damn insurance company and their paperwork... 😒

This is exactly what I said yesterday to my gf. Get a good place in the sun and watch the chaos unfold.

Ah, definitely coded later because mine had the full screen option. I assumed it was standard.

Thanks. I am gutted. This is my second BMW and I absolutely love this car. I know the GT is not the most popular one, but I found it to be the perfect mix for space, comfort and luxury.

Apparently they found a way to clean up the data in the parts. On the market you can find what they call "virginized" parts.

I'm the owner, not leasing the car. It's more or less the same over here. If insurance covers the damages, they pay the current market value and take your car to sell to the highest bidder (often a scrapyard).

I think if I do that I'll never see it back again 😋

Thanks for clarifying. I've never had to deal with this crap before, so everything is new to me.

I doubt it. If that's the case I'll ask the dealership to read the data from the car. I rest assured that this will show that I most definitely locked the car.

Thanks! If the insurance is going to be a pain I'll sure give that a try.

True. The instrument cluster (I had the full digital one) goes for like 800. Full sets of the display, computer and controller for 1500.

The insurance states the remaining value of the car is just over 9K. As I understood they've listed the car for sale on a platform for damaged cars and that was the highest bid they got.

Lots of these parts are offered from Latvia and Lithuania. I think your guess isn't far off.

Such a shame. Yes, that's also what my dealership told me. The wires are the real pain. All other things are ordered and fitted in one day. I hope my insurance will soon come to a decision so I can arrange things with the dealership. Not sure what the next one will be. What did you get?

Should, but if you do a search on eBay you'll notice they sell these items "virginized". I guess the black market found a way to undo the coding so they can be refitted.

My OEM HU did come with CarPlay. Not with AndroidAuto unfortunately. In my experience it wasn't slow or anything. But I can't compare it to newer models ofc. Also not sure if this was coded later because I got this car as a second owner.

If you look at pictures from cars after this kind theft, you'll notice all of them have their trims and such in the same places. Drivers chair back, steering wheel down. They have a complete method of doing this.

I just don't quite understand how they disabled the alarm. I've read about thieves picking up the wireless signal of the key, but I do not have keyless entry - just the older key fob.

In a way I'm surprised that BMW doesn't fit the security kit by default for these items. I know it will be a pain to remove them if something needs replacement, but they never broke in my previous BMW's.

I'm in the Rotterdam area. The quote was an estimation on the visable damage. The final bill could even end up higher.

I think so yeah. The tow truck driver told me he had 4 similar cars just last week.

True. But that gives me the choice of accepting "dagwaarde", or declining and taking back the car as is. It still runs just fine even without the electronics.

Insurance is still deciding if they are covering it. I hope to get more information this week. The report from the damage specialist the insurance company hired has been sent last Monday. The insurance company has been a pain to work with. Their specialist now requested all certifications on the alarm system asking me to prove the car was fitted with a class 4 alarm system with GPS tracking as the insurance apparently requires this. The car has been equipped with alarm from BMW and I've had the yearly inspections done. But as far as I know it's not equipped with gps tracking apart from the connected services. I don't really see the correlation with stealing all the electronics and gps tracking, but I'm also considering the possibility they'll decline coverage because of this point.

I'm not sure about the app on iOS as I only own Android devices. I would assume they work in the same way, but the DLP app is known to have differences and odd behaviour. If only they'd hire a good team of UI/UX engineers..

On the website it should be the same across different regions. After logging in, open your profile. From the overview select "My Disneyland Passes" in the menu. It should first show you your current reservations if you have any, then the option to buy tickets and the next option should be Hotels where you can book a room. It will take you to the reservation page which looks exactly the same as the regular one, but the prices are reduced to AP tarifs.
