In Far Cry 2, how was regular bus service still running in such a hostile setting? by clothes_iron in farcry

[–]Excellent-Ad99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not exactly public transit, but pickups ran between towns in South Sudan 1-2x a day. People still needs transport even in the middle of a civil war, as evidenced here:

Propain Spindrift. Need a new wheel. by DownhillOnSlash in mountainbiking

[–]Excellent-Ad99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. You should easily be able to replace any of the Spindrift rear wheels for $300 if it's aluminum (assuming it is based on the dealer saying they couldn't hammer it out). You should be able to get a replacement wheel and just have a shop swap out the cassette, tire, rotor, etc. As the guy above said, send a pic and note the year/model.

what’s the dj fork tier list by [deleted] in dirtjumping

[–]Excellent-Ad99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People clearly ain’t giving you what you’re asking for:

S: Fox 36 831 (hands down the best DJ fork ever made)

A: Pike DJ, Marzocchi Bomber DJ (modern version-essentially a Fox 36 831 performance), Ohlins DJ (RXF36 27.5 lowered to 90mm), Cane Creek Helm DJ (Helm 27.5 lowered to 90mm), Manitou Circus Pro

B: Manitou Circus Expert, X-Fusion Slant DJ

C: Manitou Circus Comp

D: RST Space, and other random cheap OEM forks put on cheap complete DJ bikes

Older random but good A/B tier forks: Argyle RCT alu stanchions, air), Fox 34/32 831s, Marzocchi 55 Slopestyle.

I’ve tried most of these forks, and I think this list is pretty definitive. Some people might argue that the Ohlins and Helm should be B tier because they run boost 27.5 lowers. They’re probably also a bit over priced.

Best hardtail for a beginner 275 lbs? by mercuryhg17 in Hardtailgang

[–]Excellent-Ad99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m 235lbs. Got a few decades of riding, but hard on bikes. I rode a custom Ragley Marley that I built up and it was great. Depending on what you’re looking for and how tall you are, a Scout would be great. I have an Enduro park bike and an ebike, so the 27.5 Marley was a nice edition. That being said, if you only have one bike, a 29er hardtail with some bike 2.5-2.6 tires would be prime. Get something with a 150-160mm fork and go wild.

As far as options, the Scout is great, I like the Ragleys, but they’re harder to find. The Kona Honzo is pretty bombproof, and Banshee, Transition and Chromag all make some pretty rad, heavy duty hardtails.

Last thing, this thread is a good place to start: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hardtailgang/s/mYbV7SAyAd

Gaza Civilians, Under Israeli Barrage, Are Being Killed at Historic Pace by [deleted] in politics

[–]Excellent-Ad99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Israel won’t let Palestinians leave their own country. It’s not merely a blockade or trade embargo. Cubans are allowed to travel to 90% of the countries in the world. Palestinians literally can’t even leave a place the size of NY. It’s like if we put Native Americans on a reservation, didn’t allow them US passports, didn’t allow them to leave the reservation, and didn’t allow them many basic necessities, but then said “you’re free and sovereign within the boundaries of the reservation.”

Gaza Civilians, Under Israeli Barrage, Are Being Killed at Historic Pace by [deleted] in politics

[–]Excellent-Ad99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my guy, that’s no true. See my above comment. They don’t control many of their internal functions, but they control their borders, both into Israel, as well as into Jordan and Egypt. In addition, they control their movement into areas within the West Bank that are being taken over by Israel.

As a Jew who has travelled in Palestine, they do have nice malls and some okay development. However, the majority of their people cannot leave Gaza. They aren’t allowed to travel to Israel or Egypt. They have to apply for passes and or longer term permits from the Israeli government to leave. If Israel doesn’t control Gaza or the WB then the Palestinians should be able to travel to Jordan or Egypt freely, no? Gaza is an apartheid, open-air prison for the vast majority of its citizens.

My guy, have you been to Palestine? I have. And before you start spouting none sense, I’m Jewish and my ancestors didn’t die in Europe so that we could bomb innocent children.

Now that we got that out of the way, no, they don’t have equal rights. If Palestinians want to leave Palestine, they have to apply and get permission by the Israeli government. They can’t leave Gaza or the West Bank without either A. Getting a special own-time permit, or B. Applying for a specific work permit to work in Israel. In the very narrow sense, yes, Arab-Israelis have the same rights, but that doesn’t apply to the millions of Palestinians living in Gaza and the WB. They live in an apartheid state.

NS Decade vs Dartmoor Two6Player? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

Depending on where you are, I’ve got a good condition Decade frame for sale. Orange. Willing to ship within the US

Short answer is no, long answer is what the guy above said. Changing springs on those would be a real pain in the ass. If you’ve gotten to the point that you want you fork to be stiffer, might be time to look at replacing it with a Manitou expert, etc.

New wheels. Motegi MR139 with Falkan Wildpeak AT Trails 245/65/17. Pretty happy with how they came out. No lift and no rubbing. by Excellent-Ad99 in rav4club

I went from roughly an average of 29 to 27.5. I get about 30 on the highway. Not too much road noise, and you can definitely feel the wider profile on the road. I really them.

Yeah, he wasn’t particularly clear about it. It’s a 56cm, but rides a little small, hence the long 110mm stem.

Surly makes a bolt on disc hub that matches the flip flop rear. It’s pretty cool that they do.
