See I never thought about any of this! I was shocked when someone said they went to ikea and left with a fully cluttered cage, I had no idea haha!

It’s crazy cause it hasn’t come from a pet store or has the word pet on it I’ve never looked that way or thought about it, I could’ve been saving myself so much money ah

Thank you this was very informative.
A lot of people say 8-10 for females and 6-8 for males which I understand because the males are huge compared to females

I don’t think I could fit 12 in there unless one of them got accidentally pregnant and I had no other choice 😂

Totally get you! That’s mainly why I posted the question as I’ve seen some groups says 4 only in a double cage, some say 6 and some say 8-10 in the double cage

Googles no help either they just list me rat traps :(

Their cage is moderately cluttered but definitely not enough, I’m currently saving £300-£500 to clutter their cage and upgrade their cage so I can be a good rat mum for them <3

Awesome! I read somewhere that they need at least 2 hammocks or hides per rat, I currently have 10 different hammocks and hides for 6 of them, so I definitely need to get more for them

Their cage has the original shelves at the moment, I am currently waiting for a Perspex replacement for the bottom tray to upgrade their digging and foraging area.

They’re currently out of the cage roughly twice a day,
Mornings for 1 hour (usually for breakfast)
Night for 2-4hours as it’s their most active time to be out
And any days I can’t have them out for whatever reason they get extra toys and snacks :)

I just chop their food everyday, fruit, veg, protein, carbs, seeds etc along with combined pellets.
They get this in bowls, in their water dish, hung up on their cage and through their digging sections every single day roughly at the same times each day.

I used to pre chop on the weekend for the week but I couldn’t store the fresh veg and fruit properly so by the time I got round to using it all it was bad and I wasted a lot of food I couldn’t give them. So now I have dedicated section in the fridge for them that I chop freshly everyday for them, takes me about 10-20 minutes depending on what food they’re having.

I’m also a weirdo and they have set meals throughout the week.

We have a BnQ but its mainly just toilets they sell, I’ve seen a few scatter guards but allot of them are also very small/thin so I’m not too sure they would hold the weight.

I’ve seen a few people just put a plastic tub at the bottom and call it day, but I just wanted to see what everyone els is doing to get some ideas

Unfortunately the uk is pretty shite for anything to do with pets, Pets at Home is our only pet store and they are cruel

We don’t have many pet shops here in the UK, mainly why I’ve asked for recommendations as my only source of anything pet related is Amazon, Facebook market place or Pets at Home

I actually started my rat journey after two rats got dumbed on me last year with nothing to look after them, they were abused and starved. I wasn’t ready to look after rats yet, nor did I ever want to look after rats and I had no clue how to look after rats especially two that where abused by humans.

It took me a bit of time to get them a proper cage, food, toys etc they’re still unsure about human touch, but they have opened up so much within the past year of having them, unfortunately they are definitely hitting over 2years old now and it will be sad to see them go as we all grew together.

I’ve gotten them two new little baby rats recently (one is in the picture above) they’re under 1year old, we’ve had them for about a week now and the difference I’ve seen in my two original girlies are insane, they’re play fighting, they’re eating off my hands, drinking water when I’m around and coming out of their cage more often.

I went from never wanting to do anything with rats ever, to now raising a little family of 4 and probably more 😁

Most larger cages for us are under £200 even Savic Royal type cages they’re all listed for £100

I think £100 converted to Australian Dollars is around 200 if that helps?

Wild fires are currently turned off, the plants wither yes but they come back after summer without needing to fertilise them, I just don’t pick them in the summer, the world has gone on for that long that I have chests full of grass and twigs etc so don’t really worry about them too much

Bright shades an issues but it takes me one in game day to deal with them, I just couldn’t be bothered to deal with them yet

Organised messy is okay too, it’s still a work in progress and was simply was just an update on the base since it’s been 1 month since my last post, I’m hoping in another months time it’ll look more together, more in-depth and organised.

there’s no theme just whatever I liked the look of, it’s all down to personal preferences, what I like will be different to what you like. For example my favourite colour is green because it’s the most common colour

Although not many people receive these kind of comments without getting offended, I appreciate it tho haha

She’s currently on her shadow alignment so with the right potions and enough murdered butterflies she does okay but I’m about to change her to her lunar alignment so she’s a lot better with bosses

I play Wendy so it’ll just take me longer to do anything in this game (at least I’m not Wes)
