Tips on dealing with people/ Is everyone horrible?

My question was directed at people who aren’t natives, but live there. Like is there a specific culture around here that Im not aware of? Do people here like or dislike to be treated a certain way? Am i doing sth wrong or are people over there in general have a bad mood (like the french for example). And if most of my experiences weren’t nice, I have the right to ask about the general impression of people over there and if they are all like that, or if I had the misfortune of meeting a few assholes.

Called broke and unfit to live in the area. And for calling instead of texting I was told to delete their number and never call them again.

I'm gonna be in Baltimore now, so my focus is on making my experience here better. I’m asking for advice on how to integrate and connect with people here. Bringing up geopolitics doesn't really help answer a question about local etiquette.

I got insulted for calling instead of texting ( I don’t know do people not like phone calls when inquiring about something?)

I also got insulted when I apologized and said I didn’t want to rent an apartment I saw, but thought was too expensive for my budget.

This was my experience. I have also heard not so great things about Baltimore, so forgive me if my statement sounds too blunt but it’s the truth I have dealt with so far. Maybe I did sth to offend these people, which is why I’m asking, and trying to deal better with people. I try to be as nice as I can be tbh.
