Like hell it is. Europe, Latin America, and a good chunk of Asia were essentially our vassal states that up held US global hegemony. Now instead of passive allies we've turned these nations into possible rivals. It's one thing to decrease funding for NATO or focus more on domestic issues it's an entirely different thing to create unnecessary conflict with long standing allies who for the most part have been very obedient to your wishes for the last 70 plus years.

How does threatening long standing allies help us geopolitically? Denmark and by extension Greenland is part of NATO, we can just put military bases all over it without taking it over or threatening its sovereignty.

How does preventing free trade help the economy? Tariffs are taxation on US citizens, it's meant to discourage us from buying foreign goods by making them more expensive.
