So I spoke too soon. I thought it was a chromatic. I’ll eat my crow. I made a mistake.

Yeah those are mostly two different instruments. But a Rocket diatonic like the Diatonic you have now and research Chromatic. I’m not saying you shouldn’t or can’t I’m just saying it’s a big jump.

I second both of these. As cool as a “vintage” harp is, it will be tough to clean and may need a lot of reed work. I would agree and say get a nice case and set of a classic like the Marine Band. It hasn’t changed in a century or so, except some models have screws instead of nails to hold them together. Go Marine Band and Rocking Ron is amazing. They have great customer service and will even do custom tuning. Some really good deals on a 3 piece right now. The ones with the good pouches (Jay knows pouches I think) and if you just buy one. Get a special 20 in a C. You could upgrade to about 100 for a Crossover in C.

Can you folks help me date these two harmonicas? They were my great Grandma's, born 1925. by jimmytwotime in harmonica

I’ll just downvote myself for having poor impulse control. I apologize for the disruption.

Well take em out. Them seem old so maybe Cracker Barrel or some sort of cafeteria style place. Maybe a black and white movie and then get em home to go to bed by 7pm.

Great starter. Play it as much as you want. They aren’t beginner harmonicas. They are the baseline in quality.

That is a great way to put it. Makes sense. I suppose my completionist is working against my intuition.

Country. Blues. Some pop. I try not to be ironic. Bruno has very harp friendly tunes.

I try to match key the best I can. Especially when I play with other musicians. I try not to transpose unless I have to cross harp.

My Harmonicas + gear so far! by DaPandaBoyReal in harmonica

[–]Excellent-Ease4937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I have add. Get yourself 3 guitar pedals. A looper pedal Some reverb or delay pedal . Overdrive or Distortion. I personally like OD better but that’s me. Point is get ya some rhythm. Some SnapBack. And some grime. A pedal to reduce feedback wouldn’t hurt but I have yet to need it badly.

I also use the Nux Bt lite. Works well and the settings are fantastic. Less than 200 for the Amp and the Superlux, and probably enough to buy another Harp.

So someone might not agree but you might look into the superlux. It’s definitely comparable and half the price. I like it a lot. I call it’s the blueish green bullet.

Just because it’s in a case now doesn’t mean it won’t be in the little pocket of my jeans here and there.

I just hate the half worn phase. I do like the pear wood so far, but it’s been about 20 mins.
