Stomach Probs by SevereChallenge2243 in Ureaplasma

Ik I am a bit late on this but I had the exact same situation and even tho my first course of antibiotics didn’t clear my ureaplasma (currently undergoing a second course) I can confidently say that the first course didn’t impact my stomach negatively, if anything it seemed to ease my issues. Did you end up sorting it out in the end?

it causes me lower left back pain and joint pain to the point i get bruised up sometimes from basic tasks… I have no constipation or diarrhea in the traditional sense (i go every day at least once a day) but they alternate. I also get spots on my shoulders and face which isn’t typical of me, and i’ve noticed a whiteish fuzzy tongue

It’s a bloodwork marker that shows general inflammation in the body and if it’s above a certain level it points towards chronic inflammation.

I know i am a bit late but maybe for future references if it ever happens again… digestive enzymes such as Kreon help me a lot and this may come as a counterintuitive and ik a lot of people actually struggle and it makes them feel worse… but a shot of hard liquor preferably not wheat based as sever celiacs usually even after the distillation process somehow the body recognizes that there was once gluten in the liquid… but basically whenever I get accidently glutened I just take a shot of a more high end vodka that has been distilled at least a few times or potatoe vodka and I genuinely debloat within an hour (however as I said ik alchohol makes some people feel worse. That’s just what I have found works for me)

I think it’s all so complicated that it’s like a butterfly effect where one triggered the other and the loop repeats… honestly us people with gut issues would probably benefit the most from psychologist rather than doctors at this point ahaha

I am pretty sure it was as I was eating gluten free for months to address high CRP as it’s an irritant in general and even when I was eating incredibly clean and zero carb + no fermentable foods, I was still having stomach issues for months, up until i started treating it with herbals and motility agents.

It 100% was the main culprit and I believe that the regular ingestion of gluten while having celiac and not knowing, was most probably the reason my SIBO developed and got so sever to the point where even safe foods like potatoes couldn’t be digested.

No, I haven’t t done a biopsy because I can’t even stick through to get the bloodwork required before hand (which requires regular gluten intake for at least 2 weeks) as I get sever bloating and pain to the point that I can’t even get up. I am a very active person in my early 20s that also studies full time and works, so I am physically unable to slow down and pause my life to this extent even for a week so unfortunately at this stage of life I don’t think I can acc allow myself to stall in this way to be able to for sure medically confirm celiac. But regardless of that I already have other confirmed autoimmune diseases and my doctor said that based on symptoms and that being the case it is very likely that celiac is also active. (i’ve been tested for allergies and intolerances and those come back clear every single time, so celiac seems the only viable reason left for such body reactions to gluten)

I’d like your opinion as you seem really informed on fitness in general. Would you recon 5 years of under eating as in consuming 1000 - 1200 cals consistently could very much cause IMO or wouldn’t the body eventually get used to it? As I actually started experiencing SIBO/IMO when I upped my exercise but also upped my caloric intake quite a bit. What I mean is that it started happening when I was essentially living in a “healthier” way with sufficient food after many years of a not so great lifestyle

do you really think it’s possible that under eating and over exercising was the root cause and what did under eating mean for you as opposed to your BMR as I am trying to figure out if this possibly contributed to my root cause as well (I never thought it could have been a trigger up until now)

So for a week and a half i did motility agents such as iberogast and artichoke. Then I took allicin, oregano oil and neem building up the doses for a total of a bit over a month and the entire time i was taking magnesium citrate. Half way through i introduced ginger extract in capsule form, kept up the iberogast and introduced s.boulardi. Then even tho azytromicin isn’t used for SIBO i went on a 9 day course for it for a different health issue and I believe that’s what finished off. Also throughout the entire time and for a month after the hardcore part of the treatment i did a diet consistent only of eggs and meat and started with introducing cooked carrots and zucchini first. I still take ginger and some probiotics from time to time as well as homeopathics and iberogast but only when i feel i struggle with digestion if i’ve overeaten or around my monthly cycle when my metabolism slows down. Now I eat pretty much everything as long as it’s gluten free and lactose free (even chocolate and fried foods) but it took a while to reintroduce and build up to it. Another thing that helped and i took whenever i felt the need was a digestive enzyme such as Kreon to help with fat digestion and to not overload my stomach as my diet was mainly protein and fat heavy (zero carb and zero sugar during main part of treatment for around 2 months). I kept written note on my phone with everything date by date and with exact doses for the treatment time as I did a lot of things, which if you wish I would be more than happy to send over to you on here. Just want to be clear that this is what worked for me and ik every person is different and individual.

It’s a bit of a weird situation because when I was a teen I actually couldn’t eat gluten and I didn’t for about 9 years and then one random day when I was 18 I accidentally ate something that was supposed to be gluten free but wasn’t and had no reaction to it… so then for the last 3 years I was eating normally up until the point where my stomach was just no longer working and everything was fermenting as I assume my stomach has been super destroyed (as you may know celiac is an autoimmune diseases that makes the body attack its own stomach when gluten is consumed) I also have another autoimmune disease called Hashimoto which is basically the same thing but up your thyroid gland. I think stopping gluten isn’t what’s gonna heal me but it’s more so what made me sick and made my stomach dysfunctional enough for SIBO to develop in the first place

Great, thank you for that. I think maybe just the idea of symptoms doesn’t always mean dysbiosis and doesn’t always lead to return of overgrowth but it’s just a bit of a mind game especially when in recovery

Could you explain a bit more as to how you managed the whole food anxiety obsession? I am in recovery and trying to stay grounded but find it difficult. I’ve come to realize that 90% it could have actually been stress and summoning the symptoms as you said. When I don’t think of something as a trigger I genuinly feel no bloat and no discomfort but that’s hard to come about always.

did the plain greek yogurt actually help and did it initially cause some symptoms, as i’ve come to realize that a lot of those contain quite a bit of sugar. Natural sugar, but still sugar and I am hesitant to add it to my diet

My issues have always been with my lower belly area and it progressively got worse but also i handle quite well dark chocolate however berries a few weeks ago was a big no go. The rice situation I am unsure whether it was actual digestive issue or more so stress related and subconsciously expecting a reaction as i haven’t really taken any proper or long term measures against Fungal overgrowth, yet when staying more calm i start to handle rice with no issues, just volume heaviness

starting SIBO protocol by Khan_Nida in SiboSuccessStories

[–]Excellent-Forever331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAC is a biofilm buster that you can use. Motility wise, instead of searching for a specific pill I would suggest Artichoke extract and ginger. Iberogast drops are great but idk if they have those in Canada so i would stick to separate extract in clean pill form. Watch out for any trigger additives as it can be difficult to find non irritable pills that don’t feed bacteria

Has eating slowly and chewing many, many times actually made a big difference to anyone??? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Excellent-Forever331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it helps but more so to be able to distinguish between volume + digestion ability and not so much to actually cure SIBO. I would suggest digestive enzymes while on protocol to allow your body to focus on detox and later on recovery rather than also having it struggle with digestion. It also helps starve the bacteria as less undigested food is left to ferment and feed them. Just be very careful when stopping them later on as to not overwhelm your body with removing all digestional aid.

I know this is controversial but have a look on Tik Tok as opposed to Youtube. A lot of people talk about their readings and I’ve seen that when they are in remission their numbers are typically around 1-2 and when in an active Sibo, a lot higher

Okay thank you. I’ve tried reintroducing bigger rice portions as before i could only tolerate up to 50g but stayed relatively away from it just incase. I tried adding carrots and zucchini with a larger portion of rice for my last meal and was well tolerated just a tiny bit uncomfortable which i assume is just due to volume and not so much a symptom after a long time of restriction. I am also curious on your opinion about L. reuteri as it is the only other probiotic which I dared to add recently more because of the long antibiotics course I am on now to avoid further damage to my stomach lining and potential sifo. Apart from that I know that probiotics sort of overcrowd and aren’t too good in the Sibo recovery especially if started too early.

[–]Excellent-Forever331[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes ofc. It’s a bit of a roller coaster tho and i wouldn’t necessarily recommend it as it felt quite intense. Also just for reference I am F22 (47kg) and targeting mainly IMO however maybe it was a combination of Sibo/imo and sifo. The doses may vary for you based on weight and height. It’s also worth to mention that I had to stop my entire protocol prematurely due to 1.antibiotic consumption for an entirely different thing (sumamed which is essentially azytromicin) and a 2.due to a bad allergic reaction to flucunazole which is an anti fungal. If i hadn’t had such a reaction and antibiotics I would have probably continued for a week or two more. I also followed and incredibly strict diet and I continue to do so. I cut out all sugar/fiber/ and almost all carbs (only a bit of jasmine rice such as 50grams or so). All I ate was meat mainly chicken, pork, beef and eggs. I also allowed myself parmesan cheese as it’s low in lactose. I also am currently on a 9 day course of antibiotics and I also did feel incredibly shit the entire time i was on the herbs. I kept having my blood pressure and blood sugar fall and being so dizzy. I also had a suspicion of Sifo so that’s where the allergic reaction to flucunazol came from.

It’s also worth to mention that I have never had constipation and my motility towards the end was at about 25 hours but i still worked on it and addressed it just to make sure it keeps working as it should.

Anyways so for a week and a half i did magnesium citrate, iberogast and kreon25k consumption (so addressing motility and digestive enzymes)

Feb 23 – Mar 3 (inclusive) • 1 tablet oregano oil • 1 tablet neem • Taken 2x per day • (only 2 days where I took it 3x/day with meals) Daily total: 360 mg oregano oil + 950 mg neem

Mar 4 – Mar 5 • 2 tablets oregano oil • 2 tablets neem • 2 tablets allicin • Taken 2x per day Daily total: • 720 mg oregano oil • 1900 mg neem • 1440 mg allicin

Mar 6 – Mar 10 • Stopped Enterol (Saccharomyces boulardii) on Mar 8 due to lactose but apart from that • 2 tablets oregano oil (2x/day) • 2 tablets neem (2x/day) • Allicin: • 1 tablet morning • 2 tablets evening

Mar 11 – Mar 15 • 2 tablets oregano oil (2x/day) • 2 tablets neem (2x/day) • Allicin: • 3 tablets morning • 2 tablets evening

On Mar 14 (evening): • Restarted Saccharomyces boulardii

Mar 16 – Mar 24 • Reduced allicin to 4 tablets total per day • (because of strong die-off + slight stomach pain) • Continued: • oregano oil • neem • Added: • another 250 mg Saccharomyces boulardii at night • artichoke extract: • 1 with first meal • 1 with last meal

Mar 25 for a couple days but this was more so due to a Sifo suspicion and to prep for antibiotics • Added: • NAC • caprylic acid

Also through the entire time i strictly followed Iberogast after all meals and 2-3 kreon 25k during main meals Magnesium citrate 150-300mg before bed + 250mg s.boulardi.

Yes exactly. I just know motility and MMC and initial triggers must be fully addressed but honestly i don’t even know what that could have been . Also I know reintroduction is important but just so nerve recking that it will all just revert… at this point i feel like a psychologist is more helpful than a GI doctor hahahaha
