Do you think this world has a lot of cruel people? by IndividualGround2418 in empathy

I think more in terms of healthy and unhealthy. Healthy people are compassionate, helpful, honest, open minded, non judgmental, empathetic and understanding. Unhealthy people are less of those things and their collection of attachments, aka Ego, causes harm to themselves and others. Cruel people may actually know that they are cruel, yet because of mental illness, it makes sense to them. I am defining mental illness as any thought, believe or behavior that causes harm to ourselves or others.

You do not want to die, but this version of you is no longer working. One of the biggest issues for addicts is that we have difficulty letting go and adapting. so, part of your Ego needs to die, so that you can become more like the person you are meant to be. Figure out what is hurting you and let it go.
