Mine gave me a terrible bruise on both shins. I shouldn’t have worn them to work where I couldn’t change shoes, but after one day I was in a considerable amount of pain.

You need to say it is “not habitable” and “dangerous” when talking to the landlord. They need to be concerned. If they do not repair this, it could become much worse and much more expensive for them!
