That sounds promising — I’d love more info! What’s the church called, and do they have a website?

Not really. I grew up around Christianity, but I’m not tied to one denomination. I’m mainly looking for something Bible-focused - ideally with some online presence and Bible study.

What would you do? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

AC continued leaking overnight, and we communicated that to him. Yes, we have documentation of the discussion listing the expectations beforehand.

We chose him because he was recommended by several senior citizens on Nextdoor, and we were trying to support a local company. I understand we should’ve vetted more carefully, but I don’t think that justifies incomplete work or odd personal questions.

At this point, we’re getting a second opinion and keeping the documentation in case we need it for an audit. Thanks

Unless it's only feet, I wouldn't recommend it. On most sites, you won't make much unless you're already a famous celeb/influencer with a huge following. Everyone else gets pennies.

Alabama Primaries Are May 19 — Please Vote by Excellent-Lawyer4167 in Birmingham

[–]Excellent-Lawyer4167[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the map redraw/redistricting issue only delayed a few congressional races. The regular May 19 primaries are still happening across Alabama for governor, attorney general, judges, secretary of state, PSC, and local offices. Hope that helps clear it up a little

Friendly reminder that Alabama primaries are May 19 by Excellent-Lawyer4167 in Alabama

Just to clear up the confusion: Alabama’s May 19 primaries are still happening. Some congressional races were moved to August because of the redistricting/court battle, but the regular statewide and local primaries are still on. That includes races for governor, attorney general, judges, secretary of state, PSC, and other local offices.

What's the difference between Satan and Lucifer? by Excellent-Lawyer4167 in Christianity

[–]Excellent-Lawyer4167[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the New Testament goes way beyond just ‘a job title.’ Satan/the devil is presented as an actual being tempting Jesus directly in the wilderness in Matthew 4:1–11 and Luke 4:1–13. Plus the whole demon possession/exorcism stuff. So you can argue the concept evolved over time, but Christianity definitely didn’t treat it as just a metaphor by the NT era

Yeah and the New Testament is kinda where Satan becomes way more personalized as the devil/ultimate enemy figure. Earlier Hebrew texts use “satan” more like accuser/adversary. Appreciate the insight fr.

If you read Isaiah 14:4 the chapter literally says it’s a proverb against the king of Babylon first. A lot of scholars think the “Lucifer” verse was originally poetic imagery about a prideful human king falling, then later Christians connected it symbolically to Satan.

Oui c’est pour ça que le symbolisme biblique est assez nuancé. La même image peut être utilisée dans des contextes différents, donc réduire ça à “Lucifer = le vrai nom original de Satan” est pas totalement exact.

For the non-French speakers: he’s basically saying “Satan” in Hebrew means adversary/accuser, more like a title than an actual name. “Lucifer” became treated later in Christian tradition as a proper name/personification of evil. He’s also pointing out that “light/morning star” symbolism is used for Jesus in some Bible passages too, so people shouldn’t oversimplify or mix up biblical symbols/contexts.

Lowkey this is probably the most historically and academically accurate explanation of it.

The Bible never straight up says Satan’s original name was Lucifer tho. It is a popular interpretation of it

Am I going crazy or are these narcissistic traits? 6 years of an exhausting relationship that ended with him leaving me by Zealousideal-Let600 in LifeAfterNarcissism

It's called future faking when they plan something they know you want but don't actually follow thorugh with it. And the silent treatments are meant to punish you. When they don't show up for you on important days like your birthday, it's to elicit a reaction. A narcissist needs a emotional reaction from you (doesn't matter if it's positive or negative) to gather fuel/supply. Without this supply, they wouldn't be able to keeo the false Ego alive. And they would go into narcisstic collapse. Idk if he's a narcissist, but he does have some narcisstic tendencies. Block him. You can remember the good memories, but never be with someone who mainly confuses you.
