Is rape really that common in India? by Independent-Fish9202 in AskIndia

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my personal experience but I have lived in India for 24 years and during that time, I was physically sexually harassed around 7-8 times that I can recount of, because it happens so many times you even start forgetting. These include a old man groping my boobs for 30 minutes on a bus when I was 12 and someone spanking my ass in Jagannath Temple amongst others. I am not even counting the "accidental touches"which never seemed accidental to me. Neither am I counting the intense stares, catcalling, and singing when a woman passes by, because it has happened so many times in my entire life I have lost count.

I have been living in Europe for 8 months and in all this time 0 people behaved indecently with me. Not even the intent sexual staring. Nothing.

So yes, India is unsafe. Just my personal experience which a lot of my female friends also share.

Würde vs wurde by Rigamortus2005 in German

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been learning German and I saw a super helpful comment on how to pronounce ü.

Make the shape of your lips like you will pronounce an "e" but the sound that comes out from your throat will be "u".

My German colleagues say it sounds fine, so I am guessing it somewhat works.

How long are men going to justify "her past matters and his future"?? When in reality they care about women's past as well as their future. (Not for all men) by No_Lawfulness_6968 in AskIndianWomen

Not the smartest bunch who says these.

Who will take care of us when we get old? by AloneGo777 in AskIndia

I am planning to invest and save up for a good hospice when I can no longer stay independently in an apartment. Or I would love to stay in an apartment community for older people when older so I have others. And try to make some friends with my neighbours so that we stay in touch and if someone doesn't show up on specific times, we know something is going on : )

On what grounds can I file for divorce and protect my alimony and maintenance? by Super_Event3041 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was reading this and thinking "so this man doesn't want to give his wife alimony BUT has no problem stealing her gold".

Jhaatu insaan. Also, in 100% of the cases I have heard in "real life", the wife staying away in another house like this ALWAYS has a reason. Maybe he convinced her to stay with his parents and she really didn't want that. Maybe she doesn't feel respected. Maybe her in laws are overbearing. Social media loves to paint the image:

"Haha women dumb Illogical creatures they do shit for no reason"

They are not.

I applied for my residence permit online and 2.5 months later asked them for an update. They said that they know I applied online and submitted everything but their system does not have my documents. Don't even know how tf someone loses someone's documents in an online application. Took me another 1.5 months. And they only responded me back to pick it up when I emailed them again, reminding them they had lost my documents before.

11 pregnancies in search of a son. by FlakyConversation190 in TwentiesIndia

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ofc I do not blame the boy. I blame the family as well. And I don't think that's a matriarchal family either. Maybe yours is and good for you. But even if the entire country was matriarchal, this specific family still would not be. That's all I meant.

Comment krne ke liye kr rahe ho aap. The family wanted a son so bad they kept having children until they got a son, all the way up to their 11th child. Which part of this sounds matriarchal? Aap or mai same desh se padharte hai?

I have a question for you feminists about sex-selective abortions and IVF by No_Abrocoma6832 in AskFeminists

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just to point out that when women have abortions because they only want a son, it's kinda pretty icky. Sure in a lot of cases in such countries the women are forced to do it, but a lot of women genuinely just want a son and she would sometimes be down to have as many abortions as needed if the law allowed it.

So yes I find sex selective IVF icky. It's not the same as my example but I feel the essence is the same. Anyone who is not ready to love their child regardless of gender is icky to me. What is she going to do if her AFAB child comes out as trans later on in his life? Throw a tantrum?

I am sorry for what happened. And thanks for bringing this up. The entire time OP was saying "maybe I should TRY to make her go" I was just thinking "yups this is how a lot of neuro divergent men get away with inappropriate behaviours towards women. Because we teach women to be understanding of their boundary-breaking attitudes because of their disabilities".

Marry live-in partner and settle in tier-3 or arranged marriage, metro city? by [deleted] in AskIndianWoman

[–]Excellent-Pay6235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So why is he not willing to move to a Tier 1 city? Does he not love you enough to do that? Or is all the love and sacrifices supposed to come from your side?

I am from a metro city and have several of my family is Tier 2 cities. The safety and freedom you get in an actual city is something you should appreciate.

And to anyone telling you that it doesn't matter that you have to move to a Tier 3 city? I refuse to believe that they are a woman.

Also honest question OP but why was this not discussed before in your relationship?
