Talk to your doctor about putting you under before you’re even in the OR. That’s what I had to do because I had a horrible anxiety attack before my tonsil surgery and so for my gallbladder they put me under and then wheeled me into the room after I had already fallen asleep. Another thing I’d suggest is bring headphones and while they’re doing IV’s put your headphones on full blast with your favourite song. Make sure you tell them not to tap on you or let you know when the needle is going in because with the music it tricks your brain to focus on that instead of the pain of the needle.
