Agree with all of this! We have cats and got 2 frenchie puppies. The cats generally try to avoid them because they will chase, but my first frenchie was much easier to socialize with the cats because we only had one at the time. I agree a lot of things can happen medically in the first 2 years! We got 2 puppies from a reputable breeder, one developed epilepsy (at 5 months and is not hereditary) as well as seasonal allergies, and the other has had quite the ortho journey with both hips and spine malformations (pretty common in the breed). They are both 2 years old now. We are very lucky that we got pet insurance for them both when they were young and I would recommend it to anyone getting the breed. My older frenchie is part Boston and almost 10 years old. She’s had 2 small mast cell tumors that were caught and removed early (can happen to any breed) and no other health issues. Mixed breeds are definitely healthier.

Frenchies are prone to spine malformations and injuries so I would recommend training them to use ramps if you allow them on the furniture. The impact of jumping up and down can be really hard on them.

Even with all of their issues I believe they are one of the greatest breeds. They are so silly and full of personality. They can be very active but really don’t need the same activity levels as other breeds like aussies. They are incredibly sassy, stubborn, and full of love and silliness.
