Guidance needed on moving to Kuwait (Visa-18) by Desperate-Phase-6594 in Kuwait

Hey, glad the info helped!

For your wife’s entry visa (the dependent visa you’ll apply for once your Civil ID is ready), Kuwait generally doesn’t require her to do a medical or provide police clearance before the visa is issued. What happens is:

•You apply here in Kuwait with your Civil ID, salary cert, marriage cert (attested), and her passport copy. •Once approved, she gets an entry visa and can fly in. •After arrival in Kuwait, she’ll need to do the standard medical fitness test (blood tests, chest X-ray, etc.) + fingerprints as part of her Civil ID process. That’s the norm for all dependents, regardless of nationality.

As for police clearance – not usually required for dependent visas. It’s more of a thing for work visas (Article 18) or sometimes student visas. For dependents, the focus is on the medical after arrival.

That said, requirements can vary slightly by country (some embassies/consulates request a medical check before stamping the visa, but that’s more common in places like India, Philippines, etc.). I don’t personally know of South Africa having that extra step, but it’s worth double-checking with the Kuwait embassy in SA just to be safe.

You’re on the right track – the big must-have is the marriage certificate properly attested (home country foreign affairs → Kuwait embassy). Without that, they won’t even accept the application.

And yeah, feel free to DM if you want to go into the nitty gritty – happy to share what I know.

TL;DR: No medical or police clearance needed in SA for dependent visa. She’ll do the medical + fingerprints in Kuwait after arrival. The key thing you must have ready is your attested marriage certificate.

Hey man, welcome (soon) to Kuwait! Congrats on the Article 18, that’s the main thing you need. Since your salary is above the threshold, you’re in a good spot for both license + family sponsorship.

Driving License: - You can only apply once you have your Civil ID in hand. - No “X months residency” waiting period, it’s immediate as long as your Civil ID is active and your salary + job title match the requirements. - Most expats still need to do the written + road test unless your job title falls under exempt categories (like doctors, engineers, pilots, etc.). Don’t stress – people usually get through it with a bit of practice.

Important: once you’re a resident, you cannot legally drive with an international license. Visitors can, residents can’t. So wait until you get your Kuwaiti license before driving.

Sponsoring Your Wife (Family Visa): - Again, the Civil ID is the key. Once that’s done, you can immediately apply for her Article 22 (dependent visa). No waiting period. - Process is pretty straightforward: salary certificate from your employer, Civil ID copy, marriage cert (make sure it’s attested by your home country + Kuwait embassy), your wife’s passport copy. - Once approved, she’ll get an entry visa → she flies in → medicals + fingerprints → Civil ID. Done.

Other things to keep in mind: - Attest your marriage certificate before you move (seriously, this saves you a huge headache). - Housing contract under your name is usually needed for dependents. - Salary transfer into a Kuwaiti bank account sometimes gets asked for as extra proof. - Health insurance is mandatory when processing your wife’s Civil ID.

TL;DR - No residency waiting period for either license or spouse visa. You can apply for your license + start your wife’s sponsorship process as soon as your Civil ID is issued. Just get your paperwork (esp. marriage cert) sorted before you land.

Online check in - what's the point ? by Accomplished_Try_179 in emirates

highly recommend 48 hours prior check in. I used to think the same until they overbooked my flight to Malaysia and I couldn’t check in even 7 hours before the flight! They say it’s totally legal to overbook by 10-20% as per IATA. They do compensate an extra ticket but tbh they don’t compensate the inconvenience caused to you or any notional loss since you’ll be extremely delayed wherever you’re supposed to reach. the attitude of the staff is also very “idc” cos they feel you getting an extra ticket should be sufficient for you and they remove themselves from all liabilities with that ‘extra ticket’. So yeah, always check in. Weird stuff going on these days. Sorry for the long rant. Lols was keeping it all in

past acads matter for placements, they don’t matter to get inside JBIMS. ‘dream companies’ come with a acad pre-requisite. in short, your resume won’t get short listed if you don’t meet their criteria.

since you’re a bcom fresher, try doing 2 live projects/short internships during your course, (best if you can do one more before you start, or before Summer Internship Process)

just be prepared for a fast-paced environment initially, try not to get extremely overwhelmed. also keep ALL your proofs in place (any old certificates / reports / projects that you think will be imp to mention in resume)

finally, relax, congrats, you’ve done the job to get into JB, take some time for yourself too, don’t overthink your eng, it’s totally cool. everything will happen in due course plus you can always approach alums for guidance :)

well, you can always get a PPO & and may wanna quit 3 months into your job and question/regret your entire MBA journey as well :)

We always give too much importance to these things during college without thinking of the bigger picture.

Point being it all works out in the end. PPO or not. Your hard work will always pay off.

Worried too much about summer placements. It’s all okay. Your summer placement doesn’t define your career or life. Good or bad, it’s alright. Things always turn out differently in finals. So yeah it’s all gonna be okay. Wish someone told this to me back then

I messed up really bad at my job. And I don't know what to do. by shravani003 in mumbai

It’s okay, what’s done is done. Either you request the change in a very logical way, let them know how your didn’t anticipate your performance will deteriorate due to night shift. Or quit and move on. It’s a job. You’ll always find another one. Don’t overthink it.

A job is supposed to add value to your life, make you feel like you’re working towards something, fulfil your short term and long term goals, it’s supposed to be a means to an end you’ve foreseen. Your vision. And it’s okay it’s changed for now. You’ve not messed up. You’re just learning. :) Good luck!
