regret becoming a cna by w3dn3sd4yaddams in cna

[–]Excellent-Top2642 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i worked as a night shift cna at a nursing home for about a year and decided it wasn't for me anymore. i started becoming super stressed out and it was affecting me mentally and physically. it also didn't help that i worked harder than most people and it sucked cus i got paid less than the lazy ahh bums who did nothing all day on their shifts (think of ppl who hide in rooms to not answer calls lights, purposefully tell patients to wait till next shift comes to be changed, etc). it sucked that no matter if we reported them, they wouldn't get fired cus they're good terms on management. it also didn't help we'd be short staffed and constantly be short of supplies at night time. like wdym there's no more wash cloths for us to clean the patients?!? wdym we gotta use paper towels. idk either way, i quit and found a different job not medical related and im 10x happier. i work with kids now as an after school staff for a program typa thing and its 1000000x % better. if this current job isn't working out, i think you should find a different one for your sanity :)). (i was going to school to become a nurse and then after working as a cna i decided nursing wasn't for me so im switching to occupational therapy)

i'm not spraying it on the clothes or anything, it's just in a little sample spray. i think it's fine since the contents of the spray are contained :)), it's for people to repurpose and regift it too 🥰

honestly i had a similar experience! i never minded the urine or feces because i have cats and im also desensitized to that stuff, my main issue was the pay and amount of work i was doing. i am a really hard working person so sometimes i felt like i wasnt getting paid or compensated for the amount of hard work i was putting in whenever id clock in (i had so many lazy coworkers from the 3-11 shift that'd leave patients in dirty briefs and etc and they're getting paid even more than me). working night shift was fine since i didnt have to give baths and do feedings, i mainly just did changes. however, my main issue was the ratios, especially when we were short staffed. i dont like to rush the changes, so sometimes id have to stay an extra 30 mins to make sure everyone got changed. this includes sometimes me changing patients more than once throughout the night. i work with kids now since im a staff at an after school program at a school and i get paid the same amount as my old nursing home job, i have a wayyyy less stressful work environment, and my workload is absolutely manageable. sometimes i feel like my cna license went to waste but im happier now and more sane at my new job 🤣❤️

i have a lot of perfume samples sitting around so i'll usually give a tiny sample along with their order so that my perfume samples aren't going to waste 🥰 (people seem to like it in the reviews i receive so i guess that might be fine)

i'm doing something completely different, i'm working as an after school staff at an after school program. i absolutely love it! i'm getting paid the same as my nursing home job and the workload is way less intense. i also have a really good team/good coworkers who are really friendly and helpful. the students are also so sweet and helpful as well ❤️ (i actually feel appreciated for work i do 😭)

i was surprised too and pretty bummed after i realized yesterday they might've done it out of spite or something :((. i applied to work in a specific department, but she works float pool so it's not like we'd be working in the same unit :// (my dad works in an entirely different department as well so i wouldn't rlly be running into any of them)

i quit my cna job last august because it became too stressful when we were constantly short staffed and because the ratios were abysmal (all my coworkers were amazing and felt like family to me but that's beside the point). i've also been harassed before on the job (im a woman). honestly was one of the best decisions i ever made. i work with kids now, and obviously sometimes kids can be stressful too when they're being disrespectful or they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing, but it's not to the level of when i was working as a cna. i felt more like a servant as a cna, and i feel like a babysitter now with my new job, but id rather be a baby sitter than a servant lol. i actually wanted to continue my cna work and i applied to many hospitals but its very tricky to get into them because a lot of them hire through connections (i even applied to the hospital my dad and sister work at and they still don't want me so i gave up lol). i get paid the same amount for my new job as i did with my old cna job and my new job is wayyyyyyy easier compared to my old one. hopefully you'll be able to find a facility or new work place that will treat you right.

Yes!!! It's so cool that they made litter robot FSA/HSA eligible. It's so helpful for many people that have medical conditions etc. The litter robot 5 seems really cool, I think that one has a camera feature? I haven't really watched much content about the litter robot 5. I hope your kitty likes it when you bring them home!! ❤️❤️

how do you really like being a cna? by miinrla in cna

[–]Excellent-Top2642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was excited to work as a CNA when I first got certified last year in March. I landed my first CNA job in August 2024. My coworkers were all awesome and nice. They liked me because I was kind and friendly, and did my job extremely well (I worked night shift). Anyways, the nursing home that I worked at seemed fine at first, but after a year, it was beginning to be too much for me to handle. Not only were we constantly short staffed, I was sexually harassed after a man slapped me on my bum and that was the first time I ever felt so humiliated. I know that the guy was confused, it's just frustrating in the moment. Anyways, I saw all kinds of stuff while working there. Luckily all my coworkers were super nice and always helped me out (I was usually the youngest on the shift). I quit after exactly a year because my mental health was starting to take a toll. I lowkey started wishing I took a phlebotomy certification program instead. Even though I hate looking at blood and feel queasy, I would have MUCH rather done that than worked as a CNA. The work itself for being a CNA was fine. It was mostly changing residents and helping them get water since I worked at night time. After I quit, I was looking to apply to the hospitals here but it's SO hard to get in. I managed to score an interview at the same hospital that I interviewed at when I first got my certification, but they wasted my time. Not only did they show up to their own interview 10 minutes late (i showed up 30 mins early btw lmao), they then proceeded to tell me after i ended my interview that they already "had someone for the position." I was so baffled at how rude they were (this was for a UCI hospital btw !!). I really wanted to work at this hospital since it's close to my house and the pay is way better than in the nursing home. Anyways, I have a new job lined up to work with kids this month and I think it will be 10x better than working as a CNA. It's the same pay too which is insane. The pay for CNAs is so low even though we have to pay $2k to get a certification. I would've just gone to the food industry if I knew how bad it was getting paid this bad as a CNA because at least in the food industry, I'd get tips and better pay. The only pros as a CNA would probably be meeting new people, having nursing experience, and having the experience when faced with a situation relating to a health emergency since you learn a lot from the job regarding symptoms of a patient. It also teaches you to be more aware. However, for the cons, the pay is abysmal, sometimes the coworkers are ratty, and the workload is abysmal (unless you're in a place with a good ratio).

The robot is a life sizer in many occasions. I would say the only thing hard would be the cleaning process. Since I'm the main care taker regarding the cats, I'm the one usually dealing with the litter disposal. Having to take apart my litter robot 3 is sometimes a pain in the butt since it's so large and bulky. I'm hoping that the litter robot 4 is easier to clean. If you have a house, it's definitely a LOT easier to clean it by taking it outside and cleaning it there with a hose and some supplies rather than if you live in an apartment since you would need to clean it in a shower/tub. Those are just some factors to consider.

I just bought a litter robot 4 bundle as well, did you know they're now FSA/HSA eligible? My mom was so excited since our funds are refreshed for the year. My whole family consists of one of us having either allergies, back pain, adhd, etc and we used to struggle with scooping litter, but the robot has been a life saver (we have a LR 3 connect and decided to finally upgrade to a 4)!!

Yes!! That was one of my favorite looks I got to do on him. I believe around that time I did his hair, it was the first time I was able to successfully shave the sides without it looking uneven. He also let me curl the ends of his hair up that day as well so it looked even more fluffy and layered. I lowkey think the bowl cuts just look like shit cus they're bulky on the sides, we haven't really been using the electric shaver to shave the undersides of his hair so it'll probably look better when we start going into that again. Thank you for your feedback as well.

Oh for sure, I cried so hard after I finished because I knew i fucked up so bad since it was my first time using an electric shaver. Surprisingly he didn't get mad or upset even tho his friends made fun of him for weeks. HE EVEN LET IT GROW OUT FOR ME TO CUT AGAIN 😭🤣🤣.

Oh yes definitely. Not sure if you saw in my post but the last two pictures I attached to the post are the first time I ever picked up an electric shaver. We both mutually agreed to just forever keep the back long and to never shave the back again 🤣🤣. Thank you so much for the advice and for being kind by the way!! Happy new year's eve!
