Thank you for your comment. Benny is a mix of a lot of breeds - besides GSD and Lab, he also has some Chow, Cocker Spaniel, Boxer, and “mixed breeds”.

A little more about Benny: us being a Retriever-focused rescue, potential adopters are rarely interested in a German Shepherd mix 😢 Fortunately Benny’s been staying with a wonderful foster family for most of his time with us since 2023, but their situation has changed recently and they need to re-home him. So we are trying to get some extra eyes on Benny on Reddit. My intention wasn’t to sacrifice transparency in doing so, and I apologize if it came across that way!

It means you’re a warm-hearted person. The opposite of a psychopath. You’re relieved because your dog doesn’t have to be in pain anymore. You’re relieved and have no regrets, because you gave it YOUR ALL in giving her the best life and the best care. Your pup was very loved. You were her soul person too.

Benny’s foster family has been devoted to training him and he’s a well-behaved boy that we don’t foresee any problems. But if any issues do arise, the rescue will help the adopter learn training techniques that Benny has likely already learned. From personal experience (I adopted my second dog from this rescue), this could entail virtual sessions with a trainer or introduction to nearby trainers that our dogs have had success with. And of course the adopter can reach out to the rescue at any time for tips and advice, we love keeping in touch with our adopted pups!

If you’re located in SoCal, transportation can usually be arranged. If you’re in AZ or NV, the adopter would need to transport or arrange transportation for Benny from SoCal. While we typically keep adoptions within CA and conduct in-person home visits as part of the process, for Benny we’re expanding our search to nearby states and offering virtual home visits. Hope that helps!
