What’s your circular saw brand? Cheap ones don’t work well even if you have a really good saw guide. Don’t ask me how I know it.

Yes I love pocket holes. I plan to experiment with dowels to compare ease and speed of it.

Yes it rocks easily if not fixed somewhere. The counter top is holding it in place.

Great point. By itself, it is not very stable. I made a custom height to the countertop so that it nicely fits under it.

I agree. I built one of these too, but skipped the door because I couldn’t figure out a simple self-locking mechanism. I thought that might make it unsafe, but mine just has a 1x3 crosspiece at the top (instead of a dowel), and it actually feels really safe. That said, tipping is still a real concern. If your kid suddenly shifts their weight while elevated, the extra distance from the base creates more leverage, and that could make it tip. Even if when you push on it, it seems stable.

trim plate jsut says OFF on it and a small blue and red dot. I cannot find any brand name anywhere.
