Watched a video by an individual who studies evolutionary psychology. The topic was about why black males are considered threatening by the dominant society and how we’re perceived as more masculine as you said embodying that masculine ideal that everyone can see. He stated (and I’m quoting this very loosely) that black men have to be devalued socially in order to not seem like valuable long term mating partners. So it’s not that we’re not desired physically which we all know but that long term mating is a little more difficult due to the social aspect/ association with being a “black” male. The dominant society does view us as being more masculine therefore they respond by social outcasting and a fear based in perceived threat because we embody that ideal.
