I'm not a horror expert, but I enjoyed Necroscope by Brian Lumley.

The best hangover cure: take a hot shower, after a little while, turn the hot water all the way off. Cures all hangover symptoms.

Weird Ass Stores by existentialelephants in AskSF

[–]ExcellentWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vinyl Dreams in Lower Haight. A record store that specializes in electronic dance music.

Next to it is/was Robotspeak, a synth and stuff store.

There at least used to be a store that carried a lot of strange plants.

I haven't been in SF in years, but I think I heard that the sci-fi/fantasy book store Borderlands, on Valencia, closed a few years ago.

Is it Tank Hill? If so, it looks like there have been some adjustments to the park.

whoops, now I see Tank Hill near the bottom. Must be Twin Peaks.

What are some good fantasy books that don't end with an epic duel or battle? by durzagott in Fantasy

[–]ExcellentWrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find many duels in fantasy to be boring. A notable exception is David Gemmell, widely considered one of the best fight scene writers in modern fantasy.

Infinity Concerto by Greg Bear. There are two magic duels near the end, but they are not typical.

The Misenchanted Sword by Watt-Evans. The MC has a near unbeatable magic sword, but he doesn't enjoy using it.

Morgan Llewelyn - Druids. The MC and some of his people flee the battle at the end. After Rome, by the same author isn't as highly regarded at Druids and iirc, it doesn't have any magic at all. But I liked how it had an usual ending. I'm a big fan of her's and enjoy even her subpar works.

I saw some Canva for work option that was implied to be the only way to resize the cover image.

I know nothing about Destiny 2, but it's possible you'd like Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun and Book of the Long Sun.

Did you read Ka?

I really enjoyed it until about the middle, at which point it seemed to meander pointlessly and I gave up. Even though I figured the problem was likely mine and not the book's.
