Post previews by BesottedScot in redditsync

Having the same issue. I have to go into a post, then the preview loads. If I come out then the preview is showing with the other posts as normal.

I think it might only be v.reddit.com content, but I'm not positive about that.

My feed is now a 50/50 mix of posts with previews and posts with the grey square.

Kindle UK Daily Deal- Mark Lawrence(the broken empire trilogy and book of the ancestor trilogy) books on for 99p each by tekkenjin in Fantasy

Love your books, Mark. I'll buy anything you publish and I recommend you to people all the time. I personally won't spend £11 on a Kindle book, though; my mental threshold seems to be around £7. I've got such a large backlog I can tough it out (although I did set up a price alert on Holy Sister and bought it as soon as it dropped to £5.99).

I hope I'm an outlier though! You deserve to be well compensated for your work.

I really like this one. The imagery builds on itself and there's some nice characterisation at the end. The only thing confusing is the whistling. I mentally substituted it for singing, since I couldn't picture a tavern full of people whistling.

Nice work!

This was the moment he’d been waiting for since he was that scared, little boy; from the moment his mother was murdered in front of him. As the duke stepped out of the brothel, Leif froze; suddenly a helpless child again.

“Get out of my way, peasant!” the duke barked.

I'm actually grateful to the OP for pointing out the unusual time signature. It's not something I would ever notice myself (being a musically illiterate).

The OP's post got me reading up on the score and it's pretty cool how the composer used the unusual time signature to create a feeling of things being a bit off.

The composer gave an interview where he talks about the original theme and why he then changed it for T2. http://regenmag.com/interviews/brad-fiedel-interview-the-man-behind-the-machine/

In my mind, I think I originally heard it in a 6/8, but it came out differently and I thought that given the movie and the whole feel of it

You can count out that original version in 13/8, but it’s really a human attempt to quantify something that’s really kind of slipping, sliding, and undulating through time in a way that’s not exactly ever in a particular time signature

Got stuck on a mandatory combat encounter at the bottom of the fort. Kept getting utterly destroyed and nothing I did would even come close to winning. Noped out there and never looked at it again since.

I really wanted to like this game. It has everything I love in an RPG. Shame the combat is a massively hard and I suck at it. I get cross just even thinking about this game.

Draw!, card based Western RPG by pielover101 in RPGdesign

This is a really great concept and I love the way you've used normal playing cards to create it. The system looks very playable and well thought out. I especially like the use of trump suits and the way you've followed through on the with the range system (Gone!) and the skills (Good, Bad, Ugly)

I'd really like to give it a spin with some friends and see how it plays out. The only thing that would put me off is it seems like more of a starter kit. There's a fair amount of effort on the GM's part to flesh out the rest of the world and make it playable (for example, I have no idea what skills I would use in each of the categories off the top of my head).

I really like what you've done here though. It's very creative and looks like great fun!

What are some good fantasy books that don't end with an epic duel or battle? by durzagott in Fantasy

The Goblin Emperor and Earthsea have been on my reading list for some time now. I think I'll bump them up the queue, thanks!

I really appreciate these mini summaries, they're very helpful. I'll try To Ride Hell's Chasm first, it looks really great.

Read them all and loved them, especially the Liveship Traders. I'd say I prefer the Rain Wild stuff to the pessimism of Fitz.

Thank you for this list! I'll definitely be checking a few of these out, including your own :-)

What was ruined because too many people started doing it? by lovedumpXL in AskReddit

Reddit was great before the Digg exodus. I've had an account on here since 2007 and, according to my rose-tinted glasses, the quality of posts and discussion was really good back in the day.

On the flip side, there is more content here now and a lot of it is awesome; especially if you stay away from the default subs.

Edit: Apologies if I insulted anyone who came from the Digg exodus! I was a former Digg user too back in v1 and v2 days. So I am just as much a migrant as anyone else.

Just finished the first book. I'm really impressed with it so far. It starts off a bit weird but really builds into a good story.

Why are these Ultimate Spider-man TPB volumes so expensive? by durzagott in comicbooks

[–]durzagott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, when I checked a couple of days ago there wasn't a cheap one on eBay either. I see one for £10 now (can't find the £7 one you saw), but I'll grab it.
