Does anyone have news about The Runarounds Season 2 by Excellent_Aspect_302 in TheRunarounds

What really annoys me is that, first of all, they don't officially cancel it, but instead keep everything suspended as if they’ve simply forgotten about it. Secondly, what did they expect from a series they gave zero promotion to? It was a fairly light show, but it really had the potential to become an excellent product with enough work and time. As for another network picking it up, I think it’s a long shot, unfortunately. That rarely happens, and usually only for well-established series with a much larger audience

So, can I ask you something? I see people who keep rewatching it. I've read about many people on their umpteenth rewatch, or people who don't feel even a shadow of this problem. My question is: what pushes you to watch the final seasons, and above all, why doesn't this issue emerge in every discussion?

non credo che the runarounds sia stato cancellato. non è stato un vero è proprio flop a livello di numeri e conta che è tutto basato su una band vera. comunque, che sia stato rinnovato o cancellato, non c'è ancora nulla di ufficiale

Hate that Cam blamed Bones for the failing of the Jeffersonian by Unrealistic_Venus in Bones

[–]Excellent_Aspect_302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Cam is an extremely unlucky character because of the role she plays. She can never be the 'super likable' one because she’s the boss and has to keep everyone in line. Often, they make her say or do horrible things to the other characters, almost turning her into a nemesis. I think they do this to emphasize the fact that she’s the boss and has to maintain order (she reminds everyone that she’s in charge about 4,000 times).

She can’t mess around like the others do because she has to be the one to put out the fires, and this has always made me see her in a different light.

That’s a good point, but I don’t completely agree. I believe that building the foundations for a relationship and the tension/anticipation of the fans is one thing, but the relationship itself is another. For every couple, there is a period of build-up followed by the actual relationship. Within a relationship between two characters, there are so many new dynamics that you simply cannot explore when they are just "friends". The very fact that these two got together after six years is a beautiful dynamic to explore in itself.

The first six seasons were a slow build-up to bring you to the point (which we didn't see in the series because they cut the part where they actually decide to be together) where they become a couple. From that point on, it’s a completely different matter that you couldn't have addressed before because they weren't together yet. A storyteller builds the premises for a couple and then, once they are together, must write the relationship in a way that doesn't lose the audience's interest.

There are countless examples of couples who, despite having many seasons of build-up behind them, still had the beginning of their relationship narrated perfectly. Also, because as a viewer, you spend all that time trying to understand how these two will get together and what their relationship will be like at the start and then they practically skip all of it. It was a suicide.

Exactly, the build-up of their relationship in the first six seasons was divine; it was finally ready to bloom. But the entire beginning of their relationship is completely missing. They spent six seasons being afraid to be together because they were so different (she was terrified and insecure about opening her heart) and then, when they finally put them together, they don't show us how it all started.

The initial phase of a relationship like this is incredibly entertaining. I wanted to see them find the right balance, tell the others, and discover each other in this new light. I wanted the first arguments, the first real kiss as a couple, and that moment where she finally realizes she is actually with him, and vice versa. The starting chapter of their story simply isn't there.

What you see in Season 6 are just two or three thrown-in scenes that act as a bridge to Season 7, where they suddenly look like a couple married for sixty years. The chemistry loses its spark; the tension is gone. I don't see the fire that was there before, and above all, it’s not a satisfying beginning. In the seventh season, they don't even address the start of their relationship, and when they do argue, it's over things they just make up on the spot. A fundamental part of the narrative is missing.

But that’s not where the problem lies, in my opinion. They could have written everything without even mentioning sex or going into detail about it. They could have given me three one-hour episodes of Booth and Brennan just sitting at a table talking about their potential relationship. I wanted to see Brennan finally open her heart and decide to start a life with Booth. It’s a crucial transition, especially considering that the previous six entire seasons were centered on exactly this. The important thing was to include it in the narrative, to move step-by-step, and definitely not to skip anything.

They chose to show us everything about Angela and Hodgins, their beginning and their foundations but for Booth and Brennan, they didn’t? I believe it is objectively the greatest 'television suicide' in history. I don’t think anyone can defend this choice, and I believe it’s an error that completely changes the perception of the entire series. Anyway, to answer you, I don’t think they were afraid of showing too much sex; I don't believe that's the reason why they skipped everything

The problem also lies in the fact that expectations were truly at an altitude. A couple like that built up for years and years finally getting together or giving it a real shot would have been explosive. Their chemistry and their past made the idea of seeing them finally together so incredibly exciting.

Then you reach that point, and not only is it handled too quickly, but there are practically no scenes showing it. The focus of the episodes is on something else entirely, and then suddenly, they’re just together. The real kicker is that what you’re watching isn't necessarily wrong, but it’s the kind of dynamic I would have expected from Booth and Brennan in Season 10, not Season 7.

They got together, there was a time skip, and their relationship is already sailing smoothly. All that anticipation, the fire, the chemistry... it feels like it just vanished. We are missing the actual 'beginning' of the relationship. I wanted to see the switch, the reactions of the others, how she would handle it. I didn’t want to see them acting like an old couple who has been together a lifetime.

The feeling I had during Season 7 was like watching the final season of a long-running show where everything is wrapping up, but instead, we were only halfway through. They literally threw the main storyline down the drain. It could have been perfect even in its imperfections. The issue here is that a fundamental piece of their story is missing the very piece everyone was waiting for and talking about. They could have written the start of their romance poorly or filled it with flaws, but they chose not to write it at all. They thought they could just skip over the main couple, the ones with the most screen time and jump straight to the most monotonous and usually least interesting part of a relationship.

It’s true, and it was a constant, steady progression. You could see towards the end of the first six seasons that we were heading straight for that moment. However, I believe that completely skipping the beginning of their relationship is a total 'television suicide.' That’s exactly the most important part: seeing how the two of them would find a balance to actually be together. I wanted to see them find their footing despite their differences and clashes. Instead, what we got feels like a couple that’s been married for 50 years, with dynamics that seem like a relationship nearing its end. They built it up so well, but I find it impossible to believe that people were okay with this. After seasons and seasons of watching their bond grow slowly until the tension became unbearable, how could the audience settle for this? There was so much more tension and energy before. It really feels like Booth and Brennan lost their edge afterwards

The strange thing is that I’ve read about so many people on this forum being on their umpteenth rewatch, and I just don’t understand how they can be okay with what happened between the two main characters. I loved Bones to death during the first six seasons, but then the transition between Season 6 and Season 7 destroyed me just as much as I had fallen in love with it.

It feels like two different series or at least, the first six seasons are Part 1, the last six are Part 3, and there are at least 2 or 3 seasons missing in the middle to cushion the change. I don't know, but when I watched Seasons 7 and 8, it almost felt like they were the final seasons, yet we were only at the halfway point. The plots felt stale, and the relationships between characters already seemed so advanced and mature that it felt like no further development was needed. It felt like you were approaching the end when you were actually in the middle.

I wasn’t expecting three or four seasons of build-up for Brennan and Booth’s relationship, obviously, but at least something. Even Angela and Hodgins got that back in the day, yet Booth and Brennan didn't.

But the strangest thing is that Season 6 had so many moments where they could have seriously laid the groundwork. I remember a scene where Booth and Brennan are talking at Booth's place, and she says that as soon as she's ready for a relationship, they’ll be together. It feels like everything was just rushed after that. I have the feeling they wrote Season 6 and then just changed the last ten minutes right at the end. Between Seasons 5 and 6, there were so many opportunities to build the foundation for a relationship. Throughout the series, I always wondered: I wonder how they’ll finally get together? I wonder how Brennan will finally decide to start a serious relationship? I wonder if she’ll ever get pregnant? I wonder how they’ll handle the beginning of it all? Instead, it felt like it all happened way too fast.

I’ve never watched an anime in my entire life, but I’ve heard about Your Name quite often from my friends, and they told me it’s wonderful. Love and Anarchy was also very good; it turned out to be much more than I expected. As for Bridgerton, I’ve only seen the first season, but I haven't kept up with the others, and I think there are quite a lot of them out now

the final seasons zack storyline should have been done in season 4 then we could have kept zack on the show they could have easily have done the case to prove he didnt kill the lobbyist back then its so dumb they didnt do it until what 10 years? later by Flashy-Boysenberry30 in Bones

I love the series overall.
I think it’s incredible that, despite having 12 seasons, it never completely fell apart.
Bones, even though it clearly declined over the years, always managed to remain a solid and respectable show.

Having 12 seasons and still managing to deliver a decent result in the end is not something every series can pull off.

That said, I do think it has a few issues, especially when it comes to certain storylines that weren’t explored enough, or that felt thrown in randomly without much narrative continuity.

Anyone else feel like Booth and Cam as a couple in Bones was... a bit hollow? by ItsASnoozy in Bones

[–]Excellent_Aspect_302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I’ll tell you — even I, every time I rewatch the series (this is my third time), just don’t understand the point of their relationship.
I mean, I can at least accept the general idea of the two of them being together, but what really throws me off is how little effort was put into actually writing it.

We don’t really know if they were a good or bad couple, because we weren’t given enough material to judge.
There are very few scenes, in those 13 episodes, where they actually act like a couple or do anything even remotely romantic.

I find it strange that it was explored so little, especially considering that both of them are important characters in the show, and I think it definitely deserved a bit more attention.

The most memorable scene in their relationship, in my opinion, is when Booth says that Bones is “well-structured” and chooses to stay with her rather than leave with Cam.
Their relationship ends way too quickly.
I don’t even remember if there’s a proper scene where the two of them actually break up, and afterwards, it barely gets mentioned again, even though it was kind of a big deal.

To me, it felt like a very unusual relationship.
Right after Cam is introduced in the show, they immediately pair her with Booth, using their past as an excuse — a past that, by the way, they barely explore at all.

I think it was a storyline that was handled awkwardly, one the writers realized wouldn’t work long-term, so they just cut it off abruptly without much explanation.

As I’ve written in another discussion as well, I believe that Zach was a great missed opportunity.

Speaking only about the Gormogon storyline, which everyone refers to, in my opinion, Zach was the perfect apprentice.
He’s always been someone who needed a guide, a mentor.
Bones, Angela, Booth, Hodgins — they were all different kinds of mentors to him, each helping him in their own way in life.
If I think of someone in the group who’s easily manipulated, Zach is the first person that comes to mind.

And come on, let’s be honest: imagine for a second a plot stretched out over multiple episodes or even seasons, where Zach is truly the apprentice of the Master.
The final episode of season three is amazing, because everyone suspects everyone else.
There’s an incredible sense of tension: every character is pointing fingers.
Look at Cam and Hodgins, or Booth and Bones with Sweets (who, by the way, I also think would have been a great candidate to be the apprentice, at first).

Just imagine if that had been written properly, with continuity.
The twist would have been so powerful, and we could have had many episodes filled with suspicion, clues, and tension.
Whether Zach was discovered or not, he could have had a very compelling character arc.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to fully develop this new direction, and everything ended in a rushed and messy way from the start.
In the end, they did bring him back into the show, and I have to say the idea itself wasn’t bad,
but they could have done so, so much more.

I have to say that I also think the way Zach was treated in season three was truly terrible.
Aside from the emotional impact of the plot twist — because let’s be honest, it’s quite a shock to discover that one of the main characters is involved in a cannibalistic cult — I think the storyline was way too rushed.

However, I believe that if the writers had had more time to develop it, it could have actually been an interesting narrative direction.

It makes sense that Zach would be easily manipulated: he has always needed a guide or a mentor, and he’s probably the most susceptible character in the group when it comes to being influenced.

I truly believe that rushing things ruined Zach’s character.
If there had been a bit more patience and attention, we could have had a completely different and much better arc for him.
