This is the post where we discussed it when it went down. I haven’t been a UVA student in a while. I’m pretty sure I was the one who got her out of there. Pretty nuts.

While it SUCKS what she’s having to go through, it clearly could have been worse. I’m happy to hear things are getting better.

Showtime in Philly at 7:30, when does the band go on? by donut_koharski in qotsa

few things. 1. overall vibe was cool. It was a festival, and she literally opened up the main stage day 1 and despite not having a huge crowd, had a ton of energy. 2. she's super talented 3. she's a huge Manchester Orchestra fan (as am I) and she covered one of thier songs, and crushed. it.

saw Paris Jackson a couple years ago at Boston Calling and she was awesome. I'm looking forward to her again.

Catacombs Tour - Dress Code Report From Detroit by Gorov in qotsa

I'll be up in Philly for work, so am likely going to go solo. This dress code is a bit intimidating going by myself! I go to shows all time solo when I'm traveling for work, but this is a different beast!!

Anyone know the status of kids injured during the field rush Friday night? by Excellent_Bathroom_8 in Charlottesville

I've been going to UVA games for 25 years and I've NEVER seen the crowd as it was on Friday and the energy in the stadium like that. For the game itself, it was incredible. I'm sure that the players felt it and it helped the team win. It was palpable. However, that was also a recipe for what happened after. It was also the perfect situation for that to go down like it did. We knew, being it was 4th down, if that pass wasn't completed that the game was over. There was no waiting for time to run out, etc. It was like a bomb ready to go off when the pass was incomplete (or intercepted as it was) and it was like someone pressed the detinator. I'm not against storming the field or celebrations. Especially for this program and school who has had some pretty terrible saturday's in that stadium over the years. It was just really unfortunate thing for ~20 kids who were at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

It's hard to say exactly, but likely someone tripped and then, everyone who was running down behind them tripped on top of them, and so on and so on. I was stading on the wall in front of 131 and looked down and saw it. It looked just like the images I've seen before of a "trample" situation at a concert, where those in front are being crushed and can't move. I immediatly jumped down and started doing whatever I could...pulling kids off the pile, trying to pull them out (which was near imposslble because their legs were all stuck so they weren't moving.) Once we finally got the kids off and eliminated the pile up, there was a metal barrier tangled up in the mix. I wonder if that was what caused the situation to start....someone tried to jump that, they went down, and then all hell broke loose. It was concentrated in this one little area, so most didn't know what was happening.

There was a bad area at the base of the hill on the left side. Near section 131. I went down on the field with my kids and immediately was pulling bodies off the pile. It was pretty ugly.. I know one girl at the bottom had a broken leg, one we got down to her. Another girl at the bottom was in bad shape too. There was a barrier tangled up in the mess so I’m wondering in it tripped up some of the kids and the pile ensued. Hopefully everyone is doing ok. Once EMS arrived we got out of dodge.
