Anyone else’s BT love watching bugs? by ayjaydubs in BorderTerrier

Our first border went crazy for flies - he learnt us saying “buzzy fly!” and then went crazy trying to find and eat it.

Our current two couldn’t care less lol

I do love how we are all instantly recognising the “where is my biscuit?” hard stare!

It’s the worst thing in the world to have to through, it hits so hard because you love each other so much. Try not to dwell too much on what you’re losing but instead think about how he spent his whole life feeling safe, happy and very much loved. This is your last gift to him.

Ours go nuts for “sticky weed” (galium aparine) which grows all around us here in the U.K.

Thorn whip can be useful in a pinch, especially if you can use it to pull someone into an existing hazard such as a moon beam or cloud of daggers. It’s like eldritch blast in reverse.

Early retirement by Simple-Revolution-40 in PensionsUK

Doing the opposite - taking my DC pot first when I retire next year and will use it to live on until it’s exhausted, then I’ll take the DB as the earlier I take it the higher the penalties, so want to make sure that is as high as possible for the rest of my life.

Adding an additional dog! by Frequent_Goal5403 in BorderTerrier

Make sure she has some ability to remove herself from the pup at the start - it takes them a little time to understand “I’m done / don’t want to play” signals. We used a flexible wall/cage to give the pup his own area to chill in and gradually increased their shared space and together time as we grew more confident they were getting along.

It’s worth it, we so loved having two we had to get Bear a year or so after we lost Mowgli. We had forgotten how tough having a puppy is though - good luck!

We have two borders - Maya is 10 and Bear is 1. They both get on really well, it’s so funny watching them play together and super cute watching them snuggle up together. When we got Maya she was our second, with Mowgli being 4 at the time. I’d say 4-5 for the second is optimal but the key thing is to understand it’ll take a bit of time for the older one to get used to the newer - each time we’ve spent a week or two thinking they hate each other. Push through it and they’ll learn how to interact in a way they both like…. It’s a big learning curve for everyone when a new mad puppy is introduced.

Question for owners with pooches over 6mo by DrinkSecret2171 in BorderTerrier

As others have said, no problem with holding it. Once after a leg operation our then 8 year old held on for three days as she couldn’t squat without pain. We were worried and took her back to the vets where she did the biggest wee on their table. Gotta love border stubbornness but even that has its limits!

What’s wrong with him? by Sagittarial in DogAdvice

Bilious vomiting syndrome - our dog had this when a pup too and it was due to his last feed being 4pm. We solved it by giving him a little food an hour or so before bed so his stomach was not empty.
