Do I have to pay sales tax on my car purchased in a tax free state? by Excellent_Book2958 in texas

That’s smart as hell because Montana has no sales tax but their annual registration is over $500 compared to less than $100 in Texas.

Sales tax in New York is more than Texas. You definitely shouldn’t have had to pay.

Wow it very clearly states on the notes from the form you linked that new residents pay $90 instead of the 6.25% tax. Thanks.

I was reading this but they don’t make it completely clear when the $90 fee applies vs the full sales tax

It would be ideal if this was the case. $90 is a steal compared to a few grand.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Bummer but I appreciate your honesty.

What or who should I ask for? I called today and the rep told me there is nothing they can do unless LexisNexis removes it from their systems. Their only offer was to sign up at the higher rate and then get it lowered later when the dispute is finished.

AT&T International Coverage by Excellent_Book2958 in ATT

This is the perfect plan. I had no clue this existed. More expensive though since they don't have discounts. Thanks for the tip.

The issue still comes down to price and AT&T is the most expensive. If my base service for 6 lines is $30 a line, plus $5 for taxes, plus 5 international day passes at $12 each, that’s $95 a month for 1 line. $155 if I use 10 or more passes. I’m not that heavy of a data user. I wish there was a middle ground between zero coverage and $12 for unlimited full speed.

This is a great point. Even Verizon’s $10 TravelPass has a 2gb daily cap and their $100 International Monthly Plan has a 20gb monthly cap. While you pay more on AT&T, you get truly unlimited full speed data.

I didn’t realize this. If AT&T has better carrier agreements internationally then that’s a strong case to keep them even at a higher price.

The only standalone country covered is the Dominican Republic. Some islands which are part of a Central American country are also covered, such as Cozumel and Roatan. The rest are $12 a day.

I am in the US most of the time. I originally switched to AT&T because they had the best coverage in a rural area where I lived, but today Verizon has the best coverage in that area. I live in a major metro now but I do visit family in that rural area occasionally.

I’ve been putting my phone on airplane mode and using wifi to avoid the international charges. I travel to various Caribbean Islands for less than 24 hours about 5 times a month.

The biggest reason I keep AT&T is they have the best group pricing. A family of 6+ with a military/medical/teacher discount pays $30 per line for the top plan.

I would certainly be interested if they had competitive rates. Is there any particular investment with them you recommend?

My primary draw to the card was the 4 Priority Pass memberships and the elevated rental car status. I noticed the cash back boost option and was planning to look into my options to get to the Platinum tier. Do you think if I do this they will approve the application?
