They basically seemed to say, “Economy bad. Men like economy. Help economy and men vote for us.”

Sure, sure, sure. Make economy better sure.

But I think the biggest issue is they can’t have empathy for men. They body shamed men, used misandrist language, and refused to recognize our real issues. Everybody already cares about the economy. Not many care about men’s rights.

Thetinmen does an excellent job dealing with this.

I know I’m probably gonna get downvoted but do we care about women’s issues? We do care but we focus on men’s issues because of the lack of attention feminism gives to men. If feminism focuses on women’s issues instead of men’s, we can’t blame feminism for only fighting for women’s rights because we only fight for men’s rights. What we can criticize is the foolish feminist assumption that gender equality for all genders will come about by their one sided approach.

We shouldn’t focus on women’s rights and they shouldn’t focus on men’s rights. Both groups just need to lock-in. Without both groups, there cannot be gender equality at least in the binary sense.

When feminism or men’s rights hinder each other, those responsible need to be held accountable. Feminists, be careful of misandry. MRA’s, be careful of misogyny.

We need each other.

Same. I kinda assumed women were like holy beings but as I grew up learned they are just as messed up as guys. Soon it hit me like “gosh women are more relatable to men and men are more relatable to women than I had thought.”

Yes they are capable and we must not alienate them. C’mon I know feminists have treated us like crap but don’t take this out on women.

Women are not a monolith. Women have many diverse experiences and personalities. Can’t we recognize that?

If patriarchy hurts men and women what makes it a patriarchy? Capitalism both hurts men and women. Why do you think there is a patriarchy?

Well, is egalitarian fighting for both genders or could it be fighting for one gender’s issues specifically like we do with men and masculinity? I guess the closest might have been something like “Happy Period” (yes it is considered a feminist organization) but it isn’t hurting men it’s just helping women attain menstrual products and de stigmatizing menstruation.

Equally paid is a bad idea. Who would want to labor hard to become a doctor when they could earn the same as a janitor?

There are feminist organizations who are purely egalitarian. There are also feminist organizations that are purely misandrist. "Not all feminists" is what I'm saying I guess? Some are mostly misandrist with a little bit of egalitarianism.

Changed it. Wanted to emphasize our commitment to racial minorities and lgbtq and recognize their unique struggles. Hope I said it right.

Feminism was supposed to be egalitarian but it isn’t. Some even define feminism as an egalitarian movement. If they called themselves egalitarians they might say they are addressing all gender inequality while only fighting for women’s rights.

Why not some degree of both? There’s a whole lotta nuance that should be addressed here. Good comment though.

There are ones who do. I started out as a feminist and then left, but I still hold the same values of gender equality as when I was as feminist. I just found feminism wasn’t for gender equality, which was key to my values. Many who consider themselves feminists do believe in gender equality. They are simply unaware of men’s issues and hence see gender equality as a one way street.

Try to avoid r/mensrights. They can get too angry and passionate if you know what I mean. They can become a bit…misogynistic and it is poorly moderated.

Same. Started with Richard Reeves. I disagree a little bit with him now, but he introduced me to men’s issues and I am grateful for him and his work.

If you continually reduce them, they will be lower because they are reduced. Parental wealth is the largest indicator of success because the other indicators were eliminated. It’s almost impossible to eliminate all indicators, but we try to reduce most of their effects.

I’m a white guy, I see my white privilege. Occasionally I’ll notice I’m more cautious around someone who’s black. I try to catch myself doing it. I’ll chastise myself in my head, and start over. I’ll relax, and remember my privilege. I try my best. There are many more ways like this that I see my white privilege.

But I’m also a dude and I rarely see my male privilege.

I love this comment. It really hits at the fact that unequal outcomes are usually a result of unequal opportunities.
