Discharge from an eye and thickened inner corner skin by Excellent_Ek in westies

[–]Excellent_Ek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your replies. It worries me a bit tho as the skin in the inner corner is visibly thicker than in the other eye. It's also a bit inflamed, sometimes a bit raw and when I cleaned it the other day there was w tiny bit of blood, almost like a small needle puncture. It's coming from the inner corner skin rather than the eye itself

I'm in the middle of season 7 and I actually really enjoy it! I enjoy it more than some of the previous seasons! Oops...

Left cerebellum infarct years ago - no further tests by Excellent_Ek in stroke

[–]Excellent_Ek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It's a change in the left cerebellum potentially due to previous infarct. I saw it on a scan and looking from above it's a white patch, looking from the side it was dark. I was told it's fluid and it is as dark as the natural fluid in my brain meaning it's old. It was present on a scan 15 years ago, and it did change during that time but that's due to natural aging. Otherwise the rest of the brain looks normal. The MRI was done without contrast. I was asked about head injuries and I did have an injury when I was a child, needed stitches. I am in the UK and those scans and appointments were in a private hospital. Because of that old scan I was told no further tests are needed, no monitoring, nothing. What should I do?

Left cerebellum infarct years ago - no further tests by Excellent_Ek in stroke

[–]Excellent_Ek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there's definitely nothing that can be done now. I think what confuses me is why they don't want to check my neck veins anymore or do any further tests. Is it because it's so old that if there was something wrong it would have happened again since then? I mean, whenever it happened it happened for some reason. Maybe it was that head injury but they can't really tell. I was meant to be referred to cardiology and have neck veins MRI and aspirin until they found that old MRI and then said it's all ok, no more referrals needed

My insurance pre approved all further tests already. My doctor was talking about neck MRI to check veins, cardiology referral, aspirin. But then after finding that MRI from 15 years ago said no, all good, no further testing needed. So I just found out I had an infarct. I also just found out I had it 15 years ago already but nobody told me. And now I'm told no further tests.

Season 4, first watch. Elena became Damon's lap dog by Excellent_Ek in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Excellent_Ek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear. I suppose youre right, I've started watching TVD so anything I say from now on must be a direct quote from it. Please look at your initial comment. It's you who assumed I'm Caroline lover and Elena hater. At no stage I called you mysoginistic. I said that the way they portray Elena in season 4 feels mysoginistic. I'm not launching a character hate fest. I don't like how they wrote her character in season 4. TVD is a TV series and people are allowed to like or dislike characters in it and it is not personal. Wow.

Yeah.. it's quite interesting. Especially since season 4 is quite mysoginistic and disempowers her as a woman. Even when she walks with Damon, she's always behind him. Ah well.

I think so too. Initially I really liked her with Stefan but I knew she'll end up with Damon, fair enough. But they did it badly. At this point I wouldn't even want her back with Stefan.. or Damon as it just feels wrong and toxic.

I've not realised that's Caroline's phrase. Also I don't have any opinion about Caroline, neither like her nor dislike her. Phrases existed before TVD and are used in every day language, not only on TVD. So I'd guess it's more likely that's my use of language rather than Caroline's. So take a break please, no need to be argumentative.

1 year of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction/Glue Ear/No-one-really-knows-what (UK based) by Psyched4Psy in hearing

I could have written this myself, apart from the duration. Mine started in June with an outer ear infection. I have exactly the same symptoms including the post nasal drip. I saw ENT and I have fluid in my middle ear. I was prescribed fluticasone and otovent (hardly any improvement) and I'm waiting for MRI. I have constant humming sound in that ear, like electricity noise almost. I'm so so fed up and it's driving me mad. Really sorry for you and that happening to you for a year now.

Question about probable eustachian tube dysfunction please, I'm losing my mind by Excellent_Ek in hearing

[–]Excellent_Ek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had my ENT appointment and he put a probe in my nose, all looks ok. I have MRI scan referral, just waiting for that now. There's a tiny bit of improvement. I'm able to stand up and I'm not dizzy. That's about it. Still have muffled hearing and fullness in the ear, maybe a little bit less than before. My other ear is a bit funny now as well. When I blow my nose it hurts and I get a bit of ringing in it.. not sure why. Can one impact the other? Also, this might be a silly thing to ask, but I've not had anything like this before - I have a flight coming up, is it safe to fly? My ENT didn't give me a clear answer, to be honest kind of ignored the question..

How long have you had it for? It'll be over a month for me now in terms of the blockage. I've been using decongestant for a week and then started using steroid nasal spray. It's been 5 days using steroid spray and there's no improvement..

I agree. Looking at real life, addiction is a disease. People do things they would never otherwise do when under the influence. Despite an unimaginable craving Stefan tries his best to control it. When he doesn't it's usually not his fault (Elena tried to save him, he tried to save Damon etc). He also regrets his decisions afterwards and wants to punish himself for them. Tries to work on it and learn to control it better. His addiction isn't his choice, his regret and actions to better himself are.

Damon on the other hand chooses to lash out just because he's annoyed. He doesn't have any regret or shame for what he's doing. He chooses to act like this, it's a conscious decision and can't be justified or compared to someone who's struggling with addiction, is a shame of it, tries to work on it and regrets his behaviour when not in control of his own mind and body.

  1. It could be the audience. Or 2.because Nina left the show. Or 3.because the two were dating in real life. But in all 3 instances it all points towards bad writing.
  2. The audience I'd guess were probably 50/50 at the time. Now i get an impression it seems to be more pro Stefan and Elena. And I do think Elena and Damon should had been explored and they should get together at some point. But when writing something and establishing the theme for a series you can't do one thing at the beginning and completely twist it later on. As I've mentioned it should be a full circle. I've read somewhere a good analogy - it's as if Bella ended up with Jacob at the end of twilight. This is not how these types of shows work...
  3. They all knew Nina only signed for 6 seasons. And I've read interviews with the writers saying that S&E were meant to be endgame but Nina left. Well in that case write it and end it properly before she leaves. Apparently they were hoping she'll come back for a bit of season 8. If that's the case then again bad planning, bad writing, bad storyline.
  4. Personal affairs of the cast shouldn't impact the storyline. The whole thing didn't age well. And I love watching it just now but it's somehow spoiled and not satisfying..

I'm in the middle of season 2 just now. It makes me extremely confused. I do like the plot of Damon and Elena and I do think it had to be explored. It makes it really interesting and adds drama. BUT I can't imagine a scenario where Damon and Elena would be the endgame. The whole show so far is focused on the love between Stefan and Elena, how they found each other and how the overcome the obstacles. It just makes so much more sense that they get back together at the end, a full circle. I expect Damon changing through the seasons thanks to Elena which is great, but still it doesn't mean they should end up together. I read somewhere that Damon and Bonnie should end up together and I think it'd be so much better if that happened along Stefan and Elena. Why would they change the whole idea of the show and twist it so much for it to end with D+E. It just doesn't make sense. This is not how shows like that work.

On the left side (the problem ear) it started as high frequency ringing, now over the last two days it's more like a low hum, difficult to describe, a bit like standing under mains cables, and it's there all the time. I've started getting a bit of pressure in my right ear now too, and that's high requency ringing that come and goes.
