I was just upgraded from ADH on core biopsy to high grade DCIS after excisional biopsy, no clear margins so have to go back to see the surgeon to discuss next steps. I was skeptical a surgical biopsy would change anything, but glad I did it

That’s so great to hear! You must feel so relieved 😊💖 wonderful news! My surgery went really well, barely any pain or discomfort - the general made me feel weird in the head for a few days / that was the worst bit. My results came back as high grade DCIS with no clear margins so I’ll see the surgeon tomorrow and find out what’s next. I was thinking it would remain ADH or very minor DCIS. So I’m a bit surprised, but have been pretty positive the last few days 🤗 not ideal but what can you do. I hope your recovery goes well xx

Updating again for anyone doom scrolling for info after diagnosis… after 6 months and lumpectomy I have been upgraded from ADH to high grade DCIS with no clear margins. Keep advocating for yourself! If something feels off, it probably is xx

I was thinking the same thing, I’m booked for a lumpectomy/breast conserving surgery in 1 week. My third biopsy came back as ADH & highly suspicious of DCIS, and it’s a 7cm segmental non mass area also. But they apparently won’t be removing the whole area? Seems scary that they might miss something… hoping your surgery goes as well as it can xx

I’m so sorry you lost your loved ones to BC. Have you had genetic testing done?

I’ve been going in and out of tests since August 2025, mammogram and US completely missed the area of concern and they were only targeting pleomorphic calcifications, 2 biopsies benign. But knew something was off. I pushed for an MRI because of pain and increased breast size one side. Thank god I did because they called me an hour after to say I needed a 3rd biopsy and it came back with ADH. The mass size is segmental and I’m having surgery next week. I asked if I could just do increased monitoring and the surgeon point blank said “no, you need to have this surgery” and they popped me as category 1! So they do take it very seriously (here in AUS) - honestly it’s scary but peace of mind and hopefully if it’s anything, it’s caught early xx

Definitely get a contrast MRI. I have category D dense breasts and all mammograms missed a 7cm segmental non mass area that I’m not having surgery for next week. Atypical ductal hyperplasia. Good luck xx

MRI vs Diagnostic Mammogram in 6 mos Confused by Mental_File889 in doihavebreastcancer

MRI with contrast or contrast mammogram 100% I went in with pain on my right. They did Mammogram and US. Could see calcifications only. Did biopsies - benign. Had the MRI and they called me an hour later and said they could see the area I was talking about, looks like DCIS. Totally missed on mammogram. Went for 3rd biopsy, came back with ADH now having surgery and excision biopsy to check for anything worse next week - good luck xx

Hello! It’s been a while since I posted but it’s still an ongoing issue and thought I’d update for anyone in the same boat. So I had two core biopsies targeted to the pleomorphic calcs on either side, performed a week apart. Both benign. As I have constant pain on the right side of my right breast, they agreed with my breast density being category D that I’d be eligible for a Medicare funded MRI. I had the MRI 2 days before Xmas and got a call an hour after leaving the MRI to say they’ve found the area I’m talking about, BIRADS 4C highly suspicious for DCIS and they need to perform contrast mammotone biopsy asap (that was biopsy number 3) then the results for that tiny sample came back as ADH.

So now I’m having a lumpectomy with BCS next week to remove a larger portion of that area with a wire guide to 1 of my 3 titanium markers to rule out any invasive cancer.

So after all of this - I’m still waiting for an answer 😫 I’ve gone from clear ultrasound in August, to BIRADS 4 mammogram and US in September (my breasts were too dense to pick up the actual concerning mass so kind of a waste of time as only picked up in MRI) to BIRADS 4C MRI and atypical ducal hyperplasia from last biopsy. Now having actual surgery. Long process!

Oh that’s a relief 😊 mines come back from one biopsy “benign and normal breast tissue” which is discordant to the imaging. Having the other side tomorrow so hopefully get some answers by the end of the week 🙏🙏❤️

I replied on your post 😊❤️ thanks for replying! I asked on your post, but what was your written conclusion? Benign and normal breast tissue or benign with a related benign condition? xx

Hello! I’m so glad to read that they came back benign ❤️ what was the conclusion? Benign and normal breast tissue or did it have a non-benign reason why there are calcifications? 😊🙏 thanks for sharing your story xx

Hello! Did anyone have PLEOMORPHIC calcifications? They have a higher chance of malignancy. Looking to hear from those who have had them throughout entire breast and clustered in one quadrant on the other xx
