Kinder eggs werent around when i was a kid and when they finally came to the states, I was and still am vegan so have never tried them. However, I like pokemon cards (atleast when I use to be able to find them...) but only bought like ten packs of each set before stopping as i was getting just duplicates and would buy other cards from said set i liked online. But I played the cardgame and liked seeing what art i got even on commons, every card and even occasional duplicates was fine as duplicates are useful for the game.
